I have played hundreds of rounds and hit tens of thousands of balls and not once have I taken a watch off. Rolex, Seiko, Citizen, Luminox, MoonSwatch. They’ve all survived just fine.
As far as pros go: it’s just personal preference and what’s comfortable. Even if it did damage the movement, I think Tiger and Rory can afford the repair bill.
“Bumped up the list” is their way of making a now-common watch seem hard to get while acting like they did you a favor. I’m glad you got your watch (I’ve got one as well and love it) but don’t fall for their shenanigans.
For me it’s the green Rolex OP 36. It’s expensive but I consider it a “grail” because I’ll probably never get one at retail. I’m afraid they’ll be discontinued before I can ever buy one. I’ll keep asking ADs but my hopes are low.
