How do you feel about “collabs?”

Anyone who uses the word "historicity" instead of just saying "history" or says "donkey's" or breaks into questionable Italian shouldn't be used as an example of good speech! 😜🤣

Isn't historicity like truthiness, a thing like but not the same as (and for the same reason)?

More importantly, how does one pronounce the X or x always used for collaborations? For, let's say Hodinkee X Timex, would it be

• Hodinee by Timex

• Hodinkee times Timex

• Hodinkee ecks Timex

or something else altogether?

Dang, your pedantry is correct. Technically watches are phosphorescent, except for the radioactive one, I presume.

I think of the "X" as "and" coz then it makes sense. It's an odd one 🤔

I guess the same way I feel about the word "cheers". Sounds like a word people all of a suddenly use once they decide they're a watch-guy.

As someone with a communications degree, I'm not a fan of "collab," and so many other lazy terms/shortcuts that are commonly used on social media.

Private communications via SMS...I'll forgive abbreviations like "brb," etc., but if you're putting something out there for others to read, don't look/sound like an idiot.

We have many good writers here on WatchCrunch and their word selection and phrasing does not go unnoticed by me.

Depends entirely on the context. Am I writing out a professional email? I use the full word. Talking to my friends in the group chat? I’ll abbreviate it.

Listened to Marc of Islander talking about his new “colab”. Never thought about it before but after he said it 100 times I’ve learned to hate it. Do not say it, ever!

I just saw that video after I put the post up LoL and I must admit I like that guy so well I always give him a pass. One time I emailed him about a strap and he sent me back a wristie at like 0430. What other watchmaker is treating their customers like That?! 🌈

I enjoy watching him but that's definitely funny.

I mean Marc doesn't come off as totally smooth but I feel like he is a very decent guy. I have had a few communications with him and he has always met or exceeded my expectations.

Oh I love to use cheers and not from the UK! I also loved the TV show. 😀 I just feel like it shows a positive friendly feeling. I really didn't take in account anyone would not like it. I guess everyone has their pet peaves.

Not a pet peeve, just a word I noticed more in the watch community.

I say "lumík", which is Czech for "lemming". Most people in the community say "lumi" (f), but that feels kind of bland. Even though it's better than other frequently used words, which are just plain English.

I’ve meet and talked to Marc when he was SF last summer. Nice guy and I like his watches but that video could use a few less colabs.

Do you also use mimoň instead of minion? Here in upper Hungary we do.

Oh yes! It's funny, a words that means something completely different, but it sounds equally funny and does fit the characters.

I'm getting sick of "mod" too. Worse yet is modded and modder. First of all, why are we saying modification when we usually mean customization? Next, mod is bad because it also means modern and moderator/moderation.
