The Mighty Murph!
I do not own this watch but I like it just as much as everyone else who likes it, but why? No kidding the first time I saw one in a jewelry case I was mesmerized and this is before I knew it was a famous watch. Not sure if it’s the numbers or symmetry but maybe you can explain what is so awesome about this watch, then I’ll know why I like it! 😂😂😂

It's a military design that's designed to be practical not aesthetically pleasing but for me that's the charm.
I love the vintage classical black dial and cathedral handset. Simple, elegant and practical all in one.

I bought it and returned it right away. The lack of AR coating made me feel like I was looking in a mirror when I looked at the dial. That’s just me though its beloved by many!
Same experience as @lla2891 . One of my favourite films, love the design but it lasted only a few days before the lack of legibility due to no AR coating ment I couldn't live with it. Dame shame, beautiful watch but utterly useless for me. 😢
Prefer this Murph than their Khaki Field watch.
I think it's niche cool, but you have to be into the niche - ie the movie. Otherwise it's a very nice Hamilton that offers a refreshing alternative to the Khaki Field lines.
It is a beauty. I already own a Serica 4512, which is very similar, but still like, and might at some point add, the Murph to my collection. The design elements set the watch apart in my opinion. The combination of cathedral hands, font choice for the numerals and quite prominent minute track on the edge create harmony in the dial and make it one of a kind.

Honestly it’s got to be the numbers. Never seen font like that on another watch. It’s so clean and the Mercedes hands are a perfect match for the dial. Absolute class
For me it has three out standing visual characteristics.
1) The Arabic numbers, I particularly like the open 6 and 9.
2) The hand set, such a great example of cathedral hands with the needle at the end. 😘
3) The coloring having just enough “aging” that is not in your face To me it comes off warm and inviting and comforting some how.
It's a very clean design, more so than most watches by being a no-date.
It's easy to read.
But it's not boring to look at. It's a triumph of simplicity, basically.

I love the symmetry (this is the big one), the story behind it, the look overall... It just gives me good vibes. I even bought both bracelets for it from Uncle Straps.
I have it now on my wrist (with the Uncle Straps Senator bracelet) and it makes me happ.

I had the same issue with the Murph and with the "regular" Khaki Field Automatic 38mm, but in my opinion - they both have to many good things so I decided I can live with that issue.
But sometimes it is annoying, to be honest 😄

It looks very elegant for (basically) a field watch. It is very easy to match to an outfit, is very good with almost any type of strap. Very universal, can fulfill the role of a dress watch, GADA watch, field watch, just change the strap accordingly.
The hands point to it being something anachronistic and at the same time, the case design and movement is something modern.
The design overall is clearly above entry level watches. There are multiple different finishes, the hands, the dial and the numerals have interesting details. There's a cool Hamilton logo on the crown.

For me it’s the numerals and the symmetry 100%. As uncomplicated as many of its rivals while offering me, an American, the heritage of the brand while also being Swiss Made. It’s the best of both worlds in my opinion and it’s about time I pull the trigger.

I do like the Murph but am more into my Bertucci at the moment. I've no doubt though that one is in my future. 😁
