Wearing watches with other accessories on the same wrist

DISCLAIMER: This is only to have a civilized conversation and for fun. Do whatever makes you happy.

Personally, I believe a timepiece must be the center of attention. It is already a beautiful thing, and it doesn’t need anything else to compliment it. The analogy is “driving a supercar with a bicycle on top of it”. What is your opinion? Do you wear your watch with a bracelet? If yes, any particular reasons? If not, why? Are you indifferent?

Nothing annoys me more than a nice watch & beads. Just screams I don't care about my watch in an effeminate way.

·

I only ever wear a watch on my wrist. No bracelets. I wear minimal jewelry; one wedding ring, one watch, and one earring.

·

I love wrist candy of all kinds but tend to go with less scratchy options.

I see what you mean, although I don’t think it’s particularly that. Some like the look of watches with other accessories on their wrist, it doesn’t make it wrong.

I like minimalism everywhere, and accessories are bo different

That’s great! For you, is it the same for men and women? Do you find it interesting when a man is wearing a nice watch with accessories?

So, you are a married punctual pirate. ✔

(I do the same, minus the earring.)

I like my watch battle scars to happen in the course of adventure (and doorways). No reason to muck up the left side of the case with some cheap beads or precious metal bracelets.

A person that wears bracelets on their left wrist with their watch says, “I wear my watch as decoration so others will notice me.” That’s fine if it is what you are going for; or if that’s not your intention, you should at least be aware that that is the vibe you are giving off.

I prefer my watches to express intention outwardly rather than to draw attention inward towards myself.

Tried it. Everything scratches a watch. everything

But hey, two wrists right? And my Fitbit was lonely.

Absolutely, folks can do what they like, I just find it nauseating - but I'm quite old and a grebo biker so beads & jewellery are very feminine, let alone the potential to damage the timepiece.

But to each their own, I'm sure my dodgy tattoos hardly give me gravitas or any hint of sophistication 🤣

I think, as with any personal style, you have to do what you're comfortable with.

If wearing a tonne of accessories just suits how you roll, then it's cool to see.

If you are a minimalist kinda individual and just do the watch on it's own, also cool.

And it amuses me no end that people consider beads effeminate, and it would amuse this guy too...

Image

Also amuses me when people say "OMG don't wear beads! You'll damage your watch!!" but then in the next breath applaud people wearing their watch while rock climbing, scuba diving, space-flying, spy-fighting etc. etc. 😏

Hmm, I see. However, I do believe most watch enthusiasts don’t really take their “valuable” watches to these activities (or at least I hope), they usually have a G-Shock for that, but I get your point.

·

Don’t really accessorize much… For me, a even watch is pushing it 😆

·

I prefer nothing just a watch but if other people likes it I really don't mind.

While I totally agree that people should do what they like, they should also be aware that others find it off-putting. It is up to the individual as to whether or not they care.

As to scratches, they, like scars, tell a story. What story do you want to tell?

·

I went with "A". although I'm a less is more kind of a guy, I occasionally enjoy tarting it up a little.

My wife jokingly says, I'm probably the most effeminate guy she knows... She still loves me, so I don't mind 😀

Just like Paul Newman is the only guy cool enough to pull off a bund, only Clarkson can pull off the bracelet stack without looking effeminate.

I'm a life long biker with zero interest in cars, so Clarkson is very much the "enemy" 🤣🤣

·

I wear no jewellery at all besides my watch. Just not my thing I never had never will just not into it. But I’ve seen it done and it looks good sometimes

·

Adornment is for you not a function of the ego as display . ( opinion )

Yeah, Clarkson The Cager.

Hammond and May are bikebros, though!

Metal, chain bracket when wearing leather strap.

What are you doing here Master?!

·

I do not own any bracelets so…

But I’ve seen couple of car review people (Jeremy Clarkson being one) wearing their watches with bracelets. It looks nice I think, as an enthusiast I don’t think I could put my watches in such danger of getting scratched. To be fair most bracelets looked to be leather

·

I like the clean look

Less is more ( ex BSA M20 owner rider ) no fuss …..

·

I keep it pretty simple. Either nothing or something simple like the below to void the space below the wrist bone. Has to match the watch in some way shape or form. Sometimes will throw a rope knot bracelet on the other wrist if it looks right with what I'm wearing.

Image
·

The only thing that has ever shared wrist space with my watch is an altimeter. And that was only in a few cases when I simultaneously had to know what time it was and how close the approaching planet was getting.

·

I can't make that look work, too Johnny Depp meets tacticool for me.

·

Also, I'm curious as to why you hope people don't take their more expensive watches on their outdoor activities?

@mostib - I get what you’re saying, but will give a counter point along Kaysia’s line of argument

I drag my Prospex LX (it’s the cost of an Explorer) and my GS Sakura413 , up mountains, across and under the ocean and on all sorts of activities

Spring drive has gshock toughness, these watches have screw crown and great WR, and I want my favorite memories with my favorite watches 🤪😁!

Caveat: These are super tough luxury watches. I do have a couple more delicate watches and watches I might sell, and those get gentle treatment!

·

Watches and bracelets - like most things, I think there is a happy medium.

Watching ‘effing time’ on you tube George looked like he was wearing about 20, kind of raggy looking bracelets, a bit too many IMO.

But - I do think having a few (or one) can look cool

I’ve just ordered some made from reclaimed ghost fish nets, as I love to support efforts to help the ocean. Will appear on my wrist shots soon!
