My Last Tudor

I'm afraid that due to this absolutely CRINGE Gen Z video announcement from Tudor - Tudor Release Video - this BB Steel may not only be my last Tudor but may have to be sold lest it remind me of that abomination.

I watched the add and initially thought it was a YouTuber pisstake ….who signed that off

·

Me too - I thought for sure this was a joke voiceover.

·

I just watched the first 15 seconds. That was more than enough!

·

Its this cloying, pandering voice that makes me want to throw up. The same crappy/ tacky/ cheap voiceovers were on display last year also, was made quite a bit of fun of.

·

It is not the first time. It seems to be working for them.

It’s pretty, pretty, pretty bad.

·

Interesting move. Definitely going after an up and coming demographic. Can't fault them really, they have to continue to grow.

·

He or She said that a Master chronometer can't lose any time, but I am sure I've seen Tudor's quoted as -2 / +4? Am I mistaken?

·

I agree, the video is absolutely ghastly. However I don't think it puts me off Tudor altogether. They do make quality pieces for the money. Sadly most brands these days seem to be driven by their sales and marketing departments.

·

Ouch…

“Totally team up!”

·

I understand the advert not appealing to you and putting you off purchasing one of the new watches, but I don't understand why it would make you sell one.

That watch isn't associated with those adverts so it's unlikely to come up in conversation, like "Oh, that's the watch from that irritating Tudor campaign in 2024".

If it's still a good watch, then continue to own and enjoy it and distance yourself from the new advertising campaign to avoid nausea.

·

I just puked in my mouth. They killed their new releases with that single video.

Well said. That was PRECISELY my reaction as well.

I totally agree - and perhaps I was using a bit of hyperbole there...but still...the brand is seriously reducing itself in my eyes. This 'wacky teenage' approach is telling me that Tudor is not interested in me as a customer.

You nailed it. I think we often forget that these companies need to grow. And us watch enthusiasts (I was going to say watch nerds) are just a very very small percentage of their customer base.

·

The voice over was terrible and over the top nasally.

·

I hope more people feel the same way to raise my chances of getting a monochrome!

·

Couldn't even watch it til the end.

For whom is that made/marketed to? 12 year olds?

·
Ktmdog24

I respect your opinion. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

It’s reading way too much into it

More nice watches for us!

·

It is a bad video. However, Tudor has to sell beyond us enthusiasts. The new generations don’t wear watches or wear smartwatches. If the ad is catching their attention, then Tudor’s ad agency is doing its job right. It is a business.

Honestly I thought the same way when Rolex came out with those colorful OPs. I thought for sure I was gonna get a yellow one since people were complaining about them but nope 🤣

·

The video had me at “SAY NO MORE”

·

I made it to 1:22 watching the video before my gag reflex kicked in!

On a serious note, I wouldn’t paid too much attention to that piece of marketing that was probably put together by a marketing grad…

On a personal note, I really hope they launch the silver bracelet to match my BB 925 😁

·

Oh and @missioncontrol you can send your Tudor to me. I’ll wear it😂

Everyone wants Rolex shake things up, but when Roblox gets even a little bit creative, everyone whiiiiiines! 🙄

The most insufferable example for me was when they release that left-handed GMT. Watch people acted as if a Rolex got cosmetic surgery to turn its nose upside down. And conveniently, many dealers on YouTube were wanting to push this thing into the grave, talking a lot about its potential collectibility… gee, one could only guess why. A 💰 for them

That is the spec for my Master Chronometer Omega SMP.

Doug I checked and we Were right. I did see the quoted spec of -2 / +4 in an article when the reviewer was talking about the METAS certified Tudors, but they got it wrong and Tudor are indeed the same as Omega (as perMETAS) 0 to +5:

From the Tudor site:

METAS Master Chronometer certification is comprehensive and covers the main functional characteristics of a watch including precision, resistance to magnetic fields, waterproofness and power reserve. Its standards are incredibly high, starting with precision. In order to qualify, a watch must be able to function within a 5-second range of variation each day (0 +5), that is to say 5 seconds less than the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) (-4 +6) carried out on a single movement and a second less than TUDOR's internal standard, which is applied to the brand's models with a Manufacture Calibre (-2 +4).

Tudor is really late for April fools this year. Someone once told me that it costs nothing to be kind, to which I replied "as if being a hater isn't free too." As someone who'd rather have gangrene than a Black Bay 58, I am feeling pretty smug right now.

Also, as a Gen Z myself, this sort of marketing makes me want to curl up into a ball and cry. I have been told that I am like an old man trapped in a pus-faced imbecile's body, so, naturally, words like "sheesh" and "no cap" are not parts of my vocabulary. What's the point of marketing this sort of thing to Gen Z anyway, seeing as most of my peers are doing far more responsible things with their money like taking out massive loans for degrees in exotic dancing and new BMWs? It's like marketing pork in the Middle East. What's the point of doing all of the effort and alienating some of your longtime fans for almost no gain? I get that they're trying to be hip and cool, but it just makes me wince.
