The Murph is now smaller

Hamilton just unveiled the smaller Murph. https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-int/murph-38

Does this fix the biggest problem with the original release?

Definitely will need to try this one

·

That was certainly the biggest problem. I absolutely loathed that awful movie though, so I'm probably not in the customer base. I seem to recall that the Murph needed an AR coating too.

·

38mm is not small. And,

why are they doing a homage to a Sowar?

That new 38mm seems to have AR

·

Good to see they didn't chicken out when it comes to the lug length either. How many times have I seen a 38mm case with huge lugs?

But it looks like the case back bulges out, leaving the lugs hovering over the wrist. They didn't need to do that.

But it's a nice looking watch. Will have to get one in hand.

·

I'm sure it will be popular, the biggest complaint about the first model was the size.

I have the other Interstellar watch, and though I don't wear it as much as I should, it is quite good.

Hopefully it is under the crystal.

I wonder if this is a "permanent" model like the 42mm version?

This potentially ticks all the boxes for me and also it's possible that watch shops in my city might stock it allowing me to try it on in person.

·

Would love confirmation on whether there's AR or not as it's a deal-breaker on a dial like this. I have the khaki field titanium with black dial and grey numerals. It has no AR and is next to unreadable, so much so that I have to get rid.

I would imagine it is under yes. To be confirmed

Awesome, I like it. It took several years but they finally made it. I do miss the classic 2824, but not a big deal.

I just checked that too and cross checked the listing for the titanium khaki and it doesn't say that.

Now I have the new Murph open in a tab on my browser, we all know where that goes.....

·

Like most have already said, this does fix my biggest complaints, size and ar. So I may need to see one in person.

I’m lucky enough that my wrist is large enough that I can wear the original. But I’m happy that this option is available for everyone

·

Do we know the lug to lug?

·

38mm AND AR...what is Hamilton thinking?!?! Finally a decent size and proper, modern AR coating. What's next, lume that actually glows?

Oh sh*t, I drank some wine and came back to my open tab.....

...will report back with what it's like. (please don't tell my wife)

·

Love it! Great field watch and 38mm will certainly work for a greater number of folks

·

That's nice. It wouldn't matter to me if it was tied to the movie or not, I would still consider this for its 38mm size.

So what other watches at 38mm and below $1k would it be competing with?  And just when I was thinking of a Farer....

·

Honestly, probably going to be buying this at 38mm

Do we know the lug to lug?

44.7mm

44.7mm

Perfect, should sit well on the wrist then

·

I like the size and movie tie in.  I'm one of the people that really liked the movie.  I like everything, but not sure if I'll get it.  Might be too similar to my Oris BCPD.

·

Am I an awkward freak for not liking watches under 40mm??!!

·

At first glance I thought I was looking at a baby Alpinist.

·

I visited a Hamilton AD this week and tried it on, real photos:

For reference, I have a 6.5"wrist.

I can imagine it being a strap monster. It should be paired nicely with beige canvas or brown sued straps....

Picked it up yesterday. I have a 6.75" wrist. Changed the strap right away and I think this horween strap is just perfect.

·

Strap looks good, @VH.watchfan. Mind sharing who makes it?

I was one of those who commented a few years back about getting one if they came out in a smaller size. I ordered one this weekend, so hopefully should get it soon.

The strap is from Popov Leather out of Canada.

At 38 mm the proportions are just perfect for my wrist. Well done by the watch community and By Hamilton for listening!
