New Longines Hydro GMT

Um this thing looks awesome. I don’t usually like the hydro quest but these subtle dial changes and a GMT function????? The orange accents????? Do I want a Hydroconquest now?

That does look really good. But the circles at 6 and 9 look off to me. It just seems backwards.

Wow! This looks fantastic!

Need to google to find out the specs, size and price.

·

I thought the same thing. I've never considered a Hydroconquest before, but the GMT version in green is stunning.

(edit - replaced the image with a better one)

I think it looks great overall. However I feel like there's too much going on with the dial. Like the triangle at 12, the circle at 9 and 6, the date at 3, and the rectangular indices. There's a lot of different design features that dont make the dial feel whole. 🤔

·

Yes, so much better looking than the outgoing model - a shame they had to spoil it with the naff date (should be colour matched at 6 imho)

·

Now that’s pretty sexy!! The green and brown/bronze and even the blue !! Is HAWT!! 🔥

·

The circle indices at 9 and 6 really spoiled the dial. Could have just stuck with the triangles at 6 and 9 too like the one at 12. But the rest of the watch is a great improvement. Also comes with a Omega seamaster style quick adjustment clasp.

·

Looks good. The bezel and color scheme remind me of a Planet Ocean

·

It’s a great looking watch, I just wished they had the 24 hour bezel instead of a diving bezel

·

That bezel font is 10/10. 😍

The case looks like your average sub homage, lacks a bit of character.

·

I seen one of these in my local AD last week looked good but I’ve already got the normal 39mm hydroconquest and I have my eye on the new 39mm Zulu time it’s a grand or so more but that has chronometer grade movement

·

Interesting changes in a better direction IMO.

Personally, I have not been attracted to the Hydroquest because of the use of large numbers on the dial.   This new approach removes them which IMO a good decision.

Since this new Hydroquest is a GMT then it will compete with the Spirit GMT.   I always loved the Spirit GMT Blue dial. That blue dial has the best sunburst that I have even seen on a watch but the 42mm was too big for me.  Now, they have a Spirit 39mm and I was quite excited about it but 2 weeks ago; I bought a Tudor Pro.   The reduction in size from 42mm to 39mm makes it such that it concentrates all the numbers on the dial with the ones on the bezel.   Looking at the Spirit GMT 39mm, there are numbers everywhere making it too busy ☹ and this is the reason I got the Tudor Pro.  This new Hydroquest GMT does not take this approach and is much cleaner than the Spirit GMT.

The GMT numerals on the inside of the watch on a chapter ring makes then dissolve on the watch. The  diver bezel increases the usefulness of the watch for every day usage.    Very nice execution.

I wonder if the addition of the gmt function could be part of their argument for the price increase

·

41mm, 50mm lug to lug, under 13mm thick. $2750 on bracelet. 300m WR, but not COSC.

It's like the Rolex Sub with the same triangle but swapping circles for rectangles (sub has more circles than rectangles and Longines is the reverse).

I like it a lot and was looking at the Spirit GMT but couldn't get past all the stars on the dial. This one fits the bill except for the 21mm lugs (are they trying to ruin my strap collection).

21mm!? Ugh that is a terrible dimension

Made a comment on another post about these new models regarding the circles and bars indexes seeming out of place. It's actually a reference to vintage Longines Admiral Diver's watches.

Yea I agree. I think this watch came out stellar. I personally do not like the look of your typical GMT. Plus in my life i don’t do any traveling at the moment. But I get there appeal an necessity for others that do a ton on traveling or business over seas and needs to know the time asap.

Oh god how did I not see that before. Ruined it now cheers 😂

I hope they come out with a smaller version just like they did with the Zulu time. I have not tried this one on yet but with 50mm lug to lug and big crown guards, I expect this to be too big for larger wrists.
