Seiko Prospex Alpinist GMT Limited

I will not get a full night's sleep till I acquire this watch. Limited but not really limited at 3,000 units. This will be the only time I buy a watch with the date at this appalling, disgusting, stomach churning position.

So much love for the watch; so much disdain for the date window... When you look down at your coming purchase on your wrist, will your stomach still churn? 😉

Yes it will. but I will manage.

I much prefer a " hidden" date, can't stand them at 3, especially with the Cyclops. Cool watch , very tempting!

I didn't even see it until you mentioned it, looks great to me! LOL

Man, that watch ticks almost all the boxes, doesn't it? GMT, internal rotating bezel, controversial date window placement...and so much more! Gorgeous, too. Good thing it's outside my price range, but tempting nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.

At first glance you won't even notice there is a date window. It was very well done with slim turtle and even MM200 GMT date placement at 4:30 was never visible at the first glance. Especially when you see it in person.

At least the date wheel is color matched!

·

Seiko is taunting me with the old green Alpinist. Grr

·

I see that they continue with their tradition of misaligned compass bezel. Even the 24h fixed one seems off

·

I think the date is perfect on that watch, as others have mentioned, it's not in the way or noticeable until you want to see it.

Even on my Marathon watches, the white date wheel is essentially not noticed until I want to know the date.

Then again, I wear watches to know the time, not to stare in amazement at my wrist all day... I get that for some people watches are mostly wrist art.

·

I absolutely love the new renditions, they're great!

·

Now I'll never pull the trigger on another GMT. This Alpinist shot to the top of my GMT list and will likely make me wait on buying from the next batch of Hydra IIIs or Venturers (as I originally planned/ basically first one back in stock) but then the Contrail GMT will be out along with whatever new shiny GMT may be announced. So many great GMTs being made or soon to be made at a relatively affordable price point now (and some almost within stretching distance for my rationalized need to buy a "beater" GMT like the Mido and the new Hydroconquest).

Not all pretty things come perfect…

Same my friend !! 😜🍻

·

That's a nice watch amigo.

·

Do I want the blue one or the Seiko Explorer II Polar Dial?

·

The date window is spot on! It looks like an Alpinist that isn’t goofy looking!

·

If this was a true GMT it would be an Explorer II killer. Miyota can do it cheaply with the 9075. Come on Seiko!
