Which 1st luxury watch?

Hi Guys, if you have $5K for your 1st luxury watch which one will you buy?

Since I have a small wrist, I am looking for 37-39mm case diameter sports watch, with compact lug to lug in a bracelet.

The 3 watches in the picture is what I am looking at, can't decide.

Let me know you opinion or any other watch suggestion? Thanks!

Out of those 3, my pick would be the BB54. I have a small wrist and tried that one on last weekend. Looked nice! I tried on the BB58 and its okay just a bit large. The GS looks okay, but out of these 3 the BBs would go with more outfits compared to the blue dial GS.

Thanks, not familiar of the watch, let me look it up.

For the above, I'd only go with a Tudor, as for the particular model, go with whichever one actually fits / looks good on your wrist. For ~$5000 Mark I'd also look at Bremont, perhaps a 40mm S302. I have x3 of Bremont now and I wear that brand more than anything else.

I have this problem now and can’t decide.. you can add a pre-owned Omega with white dial into the Mix or a champagne dial GS too.. ohhh the struggle… oh yeah I’m no help…

BB58 925

Definitely nice set of watches here my friend 👍😎 im still didn’t have GS but long time looking to sbgn005 quartz very cool watch. My first premium watch was Tudor bb41 blue bezel and I can advise to you try on the wrist and decide bb58 best choice first great watch from this 3 on my opinion but try and you should feel which one is your 😉👍😎

·

My advice, I would try every watch on and then let your hearth decide. Personally I would go with the BB58, but I am biased 🙂

Tudor is the way to go in your range, if you also prefer GMT function then add BB Pro. Alternative would be also something from Longines Spirit collection. If slightly used acceptable you can also get some nice Omega like Aquaterra or Railmaster.

·

Longines Spirit 37mm. I wear mine on a strap but the OEM bracelet is good. At your budget you could get this AND a BB54 and have a very solid 2x watch set: Sports/GADA and dive...

I like the GS, and Oris has a number of interesting sub $5k entries. The Tudors are great watches, but never made it across the line for me.

·

Excuse my extreme bias but with 5k I would buy 2 watches from Christopher Ward. 1 dress watch: Moonglow and 1 diver: pick your poison with any c60 watch. They each have up to 300m water resistance and are so stylish.

·

I got my GS SBGN027. Love it. A good first luxury watch. But if you love seeing the second hands moving in a mechanical watch, then probably have to move on from this one.

·

I suspect I would be looking directly at Omega, maybe an Aqua Terra.

·

I agree fully with @DixonSteele . That budget would indeed buy two nice luxury watches, and the Spirit and BB54 are fantastic choices. I own the 40mm Spirit, and I wish I could own a BB54.

I feel like I’d go Aquaterra for $5k. 🍻

·

Definitely the Omega AquaTerra.

Id just say that I'd love to spend that on a second hand Omega Seamaster 300m in white! I do enjoy the design and history of the Seamaster. But based on those watches above, I'd actually say the tudor.

I really respect grand seiko as a brand much more than Tudor actually, I feel they have a more storied and long design history. But that particular GMT I don't get a sense of their usual design language. Id say it's less representative of the brand as the BB is to Tudor.

Agreed - this particular GS is less representative of the brand whereas the Tudor is.

·

DUDE! Check out the Grand Seiko. I'm digging them hard now. But, you can never go wrong with a Tudo BB.

The real question is, have you tried these all on person yet?

GS and BB58 yes, not BB54, will need to try it once its available in our local AD.

·

Tudor line is a great place to start. BB58 is great and an easy choice, look at the BB GMT also, I personally prefer that one. Omega is amazing but might be tough to hit your price target. TAG has some nice stuff but not everyone considers them a true luxury brand.

Also, look at some of the reputable used watch seller, Watchfinder, Crown & Caliber, Chrono24, there’s a few more. There’s some GREAT stuff there.

Speedy for me

Speedy is awesome watch, I’m an owner and believer but would need to be used to hit $5k.

·

I think you can’t really go wrong with the Black Bay 58 in Blue if you’re looking for something that can be extremely versatile - for me the OG and the 54 have too much of the vintage about them, where as the Blue is modern but classic

I loved the BB pro too but no new one available too, don't want to expend extra in the grey market.

Readily available if you take a trip to UK saw 3 today

·

I was checking out GS watches in the London shop recently and they really are beautiful and really good value compared with Omega. What about a Formex Essence / Sinn combo?

I'm pretty sure you can get a Cartier Santos for that money if you are in the right place at the right time.

Iconic watch and beautiful too, but too dressy for me as of now.

The BB58 was my first luxury watch and I enjoy it every day since. The reflections of the sun on the golden hands are just wonderful 😍

·

Tudor for me for sure. They have some nice smaller options now too.
