Weekly Watch Rotation

Does anyone use a weekly watch schedule to rotate through your collection?

Or as a goal to attain certain pieces for you collection which include future potential watches that you are committed to getting at some point?

I initially made the list over a year ago to set it as a goal for what watches I want to build my collection with, owning only the omega at the time. Since then then the spreadsheet has changed and evolved and is more of just the weekly rotation rather than the goal collection list.

If so, share!

To be honest, I'll never afford the datejust and am totally banking on my parents treating me to it for my first father's day. But I do want to buy the Fears, just can't afford it at the moment with getting the pro in September, GS in November, and the tank in January haha.

Also I have other columns on the size, reference number, power reserve, movement, water resistance, price, etc, but thought including that for this was overkill.

You should share the spreadsheet broh!

·

Er no. Just wear whatever is takes my fancy. Same with buying.

I like data, but part of my day that I cherish is picking the watch that is fitting my mood/situation. The same watches get picked often, but that is telling that these are probably my keepers.

That's what my agenda-free Thursday is for...to keep it spicy

Wow.

Coincidentally I noticed this while watching a LinkedIn learning course on making lists.

My wife likes to point out that I treat life as a series of completely random and unrelated surprise occurrences. She's not wrong.

·

If I was this organized, I would be CEO of some organization. I choose the watches based on the day, clothes, mood, activity and sometimes to just show off.

The initial list was made over a year ago when I decided I wanted to build a collection and how best to maximize diversity across brands, dials, complications, sizes, and track prices. So it's evolved since then into a weekly watch list rather than the goal to attain list.

toomuchtimeonyourhands.com hahahaha what happens when you have multi changes on the same day!!!

·

Depending on what I have on. Depends if you wear stuff for your watch or pick a watch for your outfit.

Never do a multi change 😏

I pick my clothes based on the watch. The big thing is I want to give my watches equal wear throughout the week too.

·

I usually rotate throughout the collection except when the situation calls for a particular piece. Nothing definitive though. 😉

Absolutely the same. If there's a special occasion during the weekday then I may opt for the GS or tank vice a sports watch.

·

I wear whatever moves me the night before or in the morning or what might go with what I’m wearing or have planned to do.  Sometimes if I’m a little down I’ll wear clothes and a watch to pick up my spirts.  i think the spead sheet is an interesting idea and brings a smile to my face.

·

The trick is to swap watches within the day, effectively doubling or even tripling your watch rotation productivity! 🤣

Finally someone with a weekly rotation! Also excellent collection!

·

I find I have about a quarter of my watches in a sort of semi organized rotation. It’s funny, sometimes I will look at a watch that I never wear and seeing it new again I will put it on and wear it for a week! But I do feel guilty seeing that Bulova all alone:(

I feed Chat GPT with a detailed description of my planned outfit for the day and I let it choose a watch from my list, uploaded in a separate .prn file

No, just kidding

There is no plan, I just pick the watch that'll suit my activities for the day. Would feel weird to keep an Excel spreadsheet with precise wrist time stats ; watch collecting is already weird enough, let's not push it too far lest normies start challenging our mental health

·

I do have a spreadsheet, but not for selecting a watch, rather for tracking which watches I wear (I pick whatever takes my fancy and then add a mark on the sheet).

When it comes time to sell a watch to help fund a purchase, (or just to keep my collection under control), I simply select the watch I have worn the least.

I dong do the stats of most worn or anything to that level.

·

Spice it up. Let Excel pick your watch every day from a list of your collection.

Yeah, 100% what you just said. Interestingly though, I still manage to evenly take out all my watches over the span of 1 month. I think if you reach the point where some of your watches are just gathering dust in your box, it's time to think about shrinking your collection....

·

getting ready in the morning to go to the office.....first I check the weather forecast, rain = no suede shoes/boots.....no rain = suede or calf leather shoes/boots.....then I get dressed....and THEN I pick my watch, and I pick it so I will have a colour contrast with my sleeve colour.....blue shirt = no blue dial watch, white shirt = no white dial watch, etc.......

·

It'll be hard to find quality watches at only 300 that aren't gshocks. My Brew was $375 and those are amazing.

·

How big we talking tho broh? 1k? 3k? 5k?

·

3k is a great price range! Longines has some amazing pieces that come in between 2.25k-3K, and so does fears! Also the large quartz tank comes in just a tad below 3k. Plenty of other great options too!
