What's the best companion watch for a Rolex Submariner under 1000$ and 500$?

Hey guys, I'm thrilled to share that I've been the proud owner of a Rolex Submariner since last November. The watch has exceeded my expectations, and I continue to be enamored with it. However, there are times when I desire a more practical and affordable timepiece to accompany me on specific occasions. Therefore, I'm currently in search of a watch that falls within the sub-$1000 or sub-$500 range, serving as an excellent everyday option.

In my collection, I already possess a GShock, Laco Aachen, and a 1970 Timex. While considering my options, I am particularly drawn to watches with a white dial and a case diameter below 38mm. Do any of you have suggestions or recommendations for such watches? I greatly appreciate your input!

Bulova Hack a ww2 military watch

Seiko Alpinist

Glycine Combat Sub 36mm ( you have to buy from the glycine website)

Hamilton Murph, any number of Seiko divers, a ton of micro brand. Besides price, what are you looking for?

·

Tissot PRX

·

Actually the Laco Aachen is already a great watch. Congratulations.

Here some other alternatives <38mm

SRPJ87 36,5mm

Image

Tissot PRX 35mm (Quartz or Automatic but I think the Quartz has the better price value ratio)

Image

Hamilton Khaki Field H70455133 38mm

Image

Junghans Milano Solar 37mm

Image

Junghans Max Bill Quartz 38mm

Certina DS Action Diver 38mm. I chose these limited edition (C032.807.22.041.10),in blue and gold because I think it's just right fancy enough for your Rolex and I think it looks awesome.

A honorable mention:

Tissot Seastar 1000 Quartz 40mm. Actually there is also a 36mm quartz Seastar, but I think for a man it looks to small. My personal opinion. Divers appears different in their sizes, so I think a 40mm is better alternative. Only downside is the bezel which is made by minarl glas, not spphire. But you can also try the 36mm

I’d suggest Hamilton and Christopher Ward in this range. Both punch above their weight as brands imho. I own pieces from both and they are killer companions to my Seamaster.

Hamilton Khaki.

Just got myself a CW GMT 39mm and it’s more than what I was expecting. There several models in the Christopher Ward catalog in white that might interest you.

·

My watch is self sufficient and has never expressed a desire for a companion. True, it does not hum or dance as if it were happy. Since I heard no complaints I just assumed it was happy. I guess I will try to be more attuned to its needs.

·

Why not a Hamilton khaki with a white dial?

·

What’s about the new orient diver with white dial one member mentioned before I a other post. Probably a lot of watch for little money

Hey Luis,

I am a big fan of CW in that price range. I could suggest the new C65 Dune.

I hope that helps your decision.

The Sealander 36 is another great choice. 👍

Or the 39 as well.

I like the Seiko 200 mm SBDC171 on a white dial. Gnomon has it for barely under $1000

The Dan Henry 1975 is offered in 2 sizes (37 and 39), various colours, date/no date and quartz or mechanical. My favorite combination looks like this:

Can also be upgraded with a steel braclet.

Fellow sub owner and I get the desire to have others. To me under $500 is a combo of a Khaki Field and a G shock. Can probably do both under $450, if not $400.

Under $1000? There are serious watches under that. Perhaps a used Weiss Field watch or an Alpinist. I voted with my wallet on those and have all four and they each get as much wrist time as the Sub.

Any Seiko Presage on aftermarket leather strap!

Certina DS-1. Dive, Dressy and Sport all in 1. Great watch, underrated brand.

Spb313, diameter is 41 but it wears smaller because of the case style. I’d pick one up but it’s too similar to my SMP 300.

Sometime after I purchased my Sub, I picked picked up a preowned Sinn 556 for about $1,000. Thought it was a good answer to the issues I have with the Sub (blingy recognizable) etc. Still love my Submariner though and I have a lot of great memories associated with it.

Hamilton Field Khaki manual white dial. It goes with virtually any strap you can think of

The recent release of the Christopher Ward C63 36mm or the 39mm might do the trick

That’s a nice one 👍

·

For $500-$1000 any white dial Victorinox . ( not highly thought of here) , wc usually prefer some Hamilton with 50m wr.

·

Two cool options come to mind…

Probably can get a pre owned Oris Big crown pointer which would be nice. They come 38 to 40 mm I believe with lots of different dial options

Hamilton white dial khaki field is an inexpensive robust field watch that you can even get on Amazon for 300 to 400

·

on the weekends I like to breakout two of my favorites both list for $1200 but you can find them easily in the $750 to $850 rang the Seiko SPB 255 and the Zodiac ZO9212 truly great watches for the money. The Seiko at 42 wears much smaller under $500 try the 38 mm Seiko Solar Prospex diver

·

I'd get the Hamilton Khaki Mechanical to go along with it for beater purposes.

·

I could see the new Lorier astra fitting the bill. It may be to flashy depending on what you want in an everyday piece and it's 36mm. In everything else it should do well. The quality control on their watches for 500 bucks is very good, they also have a date which is a requirement for me.
