What is your preferred material for bezels?

One of the biggest complaints in the youtube comments about the new tudor monochrome was that it was made out of aluminum. I personally do not have a preference about bezel material, I just could not understand all the hate for an aluminum bezel.

I don't have a preference either so long as it works.

Also shot in the dark…

I think the “hate” for Aluminum Bezels come from the same place that “hate” Acrylic crystals. It’s the assumption that it’s Cheap and nothing more! When the reality is that each has its own unique Properties/Pro/Con/Feel … bla bla bla.

Ya I've also heard some people like it when the aluminum fades and looks vintage blah blah blah 🤷‍♂️

We nerds know what you meant.😜

Sapphire bezel? I've never heard of that before. I'd prefer ceramic.

D. Alloy with an aluminum sticker. 😂 🤣😅🤣😂🤣

·

I would say whatever works for the design. All can be a win and all can be a fail.

Ceramic with liquid metal

This one is sapphire, it's not very common

Basically, a sapphire bezel insert. Not as tough as ceramic but it does protect the lume plots better.

Aluminium, cheap and easier to colour than ceramic, hence why Rolex had to discontinue the Pepsi-bezel GMT Master II.

That's a fantastic picture and a great looking design. I'm guessing from the looks of it...it also gives it a little bit of additional thickness with the case height measurement. Thanks for the information 🤙🏽

Ceramic, and ceramic can be finished to suit the aesthetic that Tudor goes for, ie: vintage.

It puts me off the bb58 and others, I wear watches everywhere I go and prefer they don’t look chewed up after a few months.

·

Aluminum can be fun when done right.

I never thought too much about that, dont really care.

Matte ceramic is nice, low key bombproof

I'm ok being the odd fellow out... But I love my sapphire bezels.

It’s such a great look on the Pelly, I wish they incorporated this matte ceramic on the bb58 line.

Of course! You'll often find them on vintage inspired dive watches. The Blancpain fifty fathoms being an iconc example.

Oh, then I love it. That one of the main reasons why I love that watch. It’s definitely one of my holy grail watches. Thanks for the info.

Really do not like glossy bezels made from sapphire or ceramic. Can't see why everyone doesn't make their ceramic bezels matte or brushed, it looks so much better imo.

·

I voted other for ceramic, but I’ve only ever had aluminum and I like aluminum. My all black GMT 2, didn’t fade, and just had a few scratches even after banging the shit out of on doors, walls what have you. It was changed after 17 years.

·

What about ceramic? 😉 That's my preference.

·

People saying ceramic better than sapphire. I like ceramic but if it’s got sapphire it’s even better.

·

Ceramic. Although I do like a nice SS also.
