Bulova Lunar Pilot in 43mm; coming soon!

(photo creds to Youtuber WatchChris)

I was today years old when I found out that Bulova is going to release a 43mm version of their lovable Lunar Pilot! The size is apparently closer to what the original watch’s size was. The new one has a few other differences compared to the one released a few years ago; the case and pushers are polished, the logo on the dial is their old one and the lug to lug distance is shorter, too. They’ll also be releasing it in another color - a panda white/blue dial with a blue leather strap.

I have a 6.65 inch wrist and despite that, I’d love to pick one up. The story behind the watch and the fact that I’ve been an aerospace nerd for most of my life makes this super appealing. Is anyone else with a smaller wrist interested?

Great watch. I just recently got one too and love it.

Ah crap. I had these safely discounted due to the long L2L.

Same! The last one had me like, "No way, too big and it looks a tad too modern" and then I heard about this reduced size model and now my credit card is trembling with fear.

40-41 and it'll be mine, 43mm is still big for my wrist and taste. Unless the bezel tapered inward like a Doxa, which doesn't look to be the case, pun intended 🤪. I really want them to do it to give me the excuse to have a chronometer level quartz I actually like that doesn't cost too much. The other quartz movements of that accuracy are a miss to me for various reasons in their design ie Certina, Longines. Citizen and Grand Seiko are a different tier.

I have to see it in person though. I have a 6.5 wrist, it really doesn't look massive on yours....

Love mine! Glad to hear they are doing a smaller version.

Oh, that's not my wrist, that's someone else's! His looks bigger than mine. And yeah, I hear you about it being a tad smaller (I wish it was 41mm) but at least they actually reduced the size a little bit. I think this looks way better than the original. I'm amazed at Bulova's quartz models, like you said, some of them are truly just outstanding. I've never been much of a chronograph guy but if I can find this for around $500 or less, I'd snatch it up.

I resisted the MoonSwatch, the PRX, and the Murph. I think this may take me down (Unless it’s still too big…).

Woah, no way! How did you get it? I thought these weren't even out yet!

Sorry, let me clarify. I have the existing Bulova Lunar Pilot, not the new 43mm.

There was an announcement on @watchchris  YT channel a few months ago about the 43mm version of the Lunar Pilot, but so far I didn't hear about it from anyone else and I don't see a mention on Bulova web site.

I'll be one of the first to get it if and when it will be released.

Hey should be next month the release fyi

·

Will wait for it to arrive first. Huh, we might just go Lunar Tuesdays then. 😛

·

My understanding is that it's not a limited run, so we have time to consider the size. I would love a 39mm case size but let's see. I've been planning to add this moon watch to my collection.

·

Yup, was considering the Lunar Pilot till I saw the news. I'll wait for this one. The black one looks sick.

·

Yeah, Hillbilly Luxury had it up three months back - about a month before Watch Chris - and in turn, said he'd got it off a watch forum. I've never checked the forum to see when it went up; I assume around the time Hillbilly Luxury made his video, but it could have been longer. It's exciting.

My AD reckons a mid 2023 release date.

Love this watch. It’s my grail watch. Picked  one up last year. I have a 7 inch wrist and think it fits fine, but I can understand people with a smaller wrist size might struggle a little with the current version. Enjoy the watch when you get it 👍

I put a black PVD bracelet on mine. The leather strap it came with was a joke.

Ooh, can you share which bracelet you used and where you obtained it?

You may be asking because you think I found the holy grail of such a bracelet with end links that suit the case. I didn't. I just got a generic PVD stainless steel bracelet off eBay for about $15, and it sits on the case in a 'vintage' way, ie: without end links.

Does anyone know what the L2L is going to be?

43mm case is still on the big side for me. However, if it's true(r) to original 1970s dimensions I just might pull the trigger!

·

Still way too big 😅 Call me when they release a 40 or 39mm 😉

Seriously i would love to own the lunar pilot, but sadly with a 6.1 inch wrist it just isn't possible for me to wear one 😥

·

Bizzare thing there is very little info about this watch or when these will be launched and on sale :(

·

do you know when this 43mm is finally gonna be released?

Bulova has begun teasing the smaller Lunar Pilot release (1-02-23)

·

Now I’m excited!

·

It’s officially released. Based on reviews, it’s spec’d at 43x50 with 20mm lugs. Apparently it’s sized to the original.
