Bremont redesign

Please can somebody pass-on to the owners of Bremont how shockingly awful the new designs are. The attempted rebrand is dreadful. Truly dreadful.

Bremont had a successful and recognisable design language: split case, propeller motif, elegant font.

They now look like a cheap microbrand (or a knock-off Hamilton) with dull logo, aggressive font, generic cases, and overly busy dials.

I'll call them.

FFS not again…

Who wants to go first; I’ll light the bonfire.

I'll call them.

Thank you! 😅

Someone needs to tell them!!

New design : terrible

Old design : unique and beautiful.

I legitimately thought you were about to rant about a terrible microbrand before I saw the name

·

You mean the eye-test font:

On the plus side, their new designs are so so awful, that I’m tempted to buy one of their older watches assuming they never return to the split case design.

·

It's not as if they don't know how to design a watch.

Yeah it's disappointing... :(

I will be at W&W this weekend and have a look myself.

·

The previous font and propeller were much better, this is a mistake. They are going through a Christopher Ward type of branding error phase.

Please 🙏🏼 do tell them the general feel.

Keep the old design language, but develope the range. Their new ideal of Land, Sea and Air is good. I even think the design nod to the CWC cushion case is quite clever but they have devalued their brand massively. It now looks cheap.

Genuinely CW looks more premium.

Guess I will be one of the few who thinks the new designs are pretty good. The Terra Nova looks good although I must confess it does look a bit like other brands mash up. The redesigned Supermarine takes on a more generic shape as opposed the triptych (I think that's what they called it) case but the long lugs were awful on those, so I think this is a good revision. And I find the new logo and font much punchier

·

The logo design is so uninspired. It's not as much of a trainwreck compared to when Brioni brought Justin O'Shea in as creative director. But still...

Isn’t that….a bad knockoff of a Hamilton?

Wow, you’re right.

It’s a game of ‘who can make the uglier watch?’.

Looks like a watch designed by a five word prompt in stable diffusion.

I really wanted to like this rebrand / redesign but sadly it's fallen so short of their legacy stuff. I understand what they are trying to do and I hope I'll come around to their new direction at some point but this has been a colossal disappointment.

I do look forward to seeing and trying some of those new and quite unoriginal pieces in the flesh out of sheer curiosity but am I glad to say I was involved with them prior to this.

·

I don’t think the new designs are that bad

If ‘righting the ship’ is best achieved by blowing a hole in the bottom of it, then well done to them. Top job!

Are Bremont doing badly?

It's called "counter-flooding".

A good captain does it on the other side of the leak. This doesn't seem like it was the case..

·

They’ve really lost their way over the years. They showed promise 15 years ago 😔

Why is the NATO logo all over these monstrosities? Could they look more design-by-committee?

It looks like the Stone Island clothing brand logo. A brand which is well known for being the choice of the discerning football hooligan in England.

·

Did they let ChatGPT design this?

The new logo feels inherently unbalanced/wonky due to the negative space 'shading'.

The BREMONT typeface is gash

Black date window on a brown dial

Minute tracks are unintuitive

Numerals are way too chunky

Triangles and circlular and random line (3 o'clock) hurt my eyes

The compass bezel with 30 degree increments with a 10 degree scale?

Terra Nova London - what is that and why are the letters so badly spaced?

Why is the L of London small but the T and N are large?

Why does the terra nova hand over reach the scale?

Who took a bite out of the 8?

Why doesn't the date wheel match any of the other typefaces?

And on the caseback - They forgot to add their home country! In fact, I'm fairly sure this caseback offends almost every nation..

This is SO cr**py it almost feels like an April Fools joke..

I was thinking of pulling the trigger on a Bremont Supernova, but if this is the direction the company is going in, I don't want to give them my money.

An unbelievable own goal. 🤦🏻‍♂️

What about buying an old-style model to have that in your collection.

I love the older stuff, the Supernova, S300's/500's and the Broadsword in particular, but looking at the uninspiring/generic avenue that the company is going down, I'm loathed to give them any of my hard earned money.

These new models have actually put me off the brand altogether. 😢

·

I quite like the 38mm one. The chunky solid lume numerals are great.

·

Totally agree

Agreed. I’m not a fan of the new CEO’s direction or apparent intent but I do have a soft spot for the old Trip-Tick case. I wouldn’t feel bad owning a pre-buyout model. I think owning a Bremont in-house movement would be nice but those models were spears expensive. The gold complication model above is beautiful.
