These may be a toss-up if price is close enough.
But...the Longines will be more versatile as the Oris has an essentially integrated bracelet. So strap options will be more limited.
I'm in the same situation. I was considering an Explorer or Sub no-date. But I ended up asking myself - "Why do I want to spend this much money on a watch?"
Every time I was honest with myself, it came back to one answer: I was buying into the hype.
And no one cares about the hype except those of us in the hobby creating the hype.
There are functionally superior watches at much lower price points that are only missing the history and prestige (hype).
$9k - $12k in the bank is much more useful.
I have decided I can enjoy the history without paying for the hype. My 50th birthday watch will not be a Rolex.
I had just taken the watch off and was holding it (apparently loosely) in my hand. Someone called my name and when I turned toward him, my elbow hit the back of a tall chair and the watch fell from my grasp.
The moral of the story is: ignore people. Always.
