Yema - Just Bad Everything

I've held off on writing this review, but after a recent experience the other reviews of Yema are correct - just bad, and people should know. See below for what I have had to deal with due to their poor watch quality and customer service. I do not recommend buying a Yema watch and definitely not one with the bezel lock.

  • I originally received my Yema watch and it arrived broken. The watch wouldn't even start. After waiting longer than advertised to get my watch from France, this was very disappointing.
  • After sending my watch to get fixed, it was returned in working condition but there was a hair inside the case, between the dial and crystal. Unbelievable. Had to wait a very long time to get my brand new but broken watch back and when it arrived there is a visible hair between the watch face and the crystal. Seeing a hair every time I look at my watch is unacceptable, and when I brought it up I did not receive a reply. Making it worse, they didn't even pay for the shipping like they said it would.
  • The bezel does not exactly line up with 12:00, which impacts the aesthetic of the watch. This is a clear sign of poor craftmanship.
  • Over the past 6 months the bezel lock has become looser and looser, won't stay tight, and now rattles when I wear the watch.

The other reviewers about Yema were right - just poor everything.

Damn.  Sorry about that, dude.

Absolutely unacceptable in this day and age. Dan from down the pub could probably put a watch back together without have that noticeable of a hair on the dial so for a western company it's just not ok

·

My god that is absolutely unacceptable Christian. The fact that they obviously cased that watch up, had to notice the hair, but were too lazy to clean it up before sending it back. Well thank you for the warning man. I'm sorry you had to deal with this.

Damn.  Sorry about that, dude.

It is just a bummer.  I spent a lot of time trying to find a good looking watch that is off the beaten path.  I've learned.

I have read about other QC issues with this brand.   They have some interesting designs, but it is not worth the risk. I also don’t think you can try one on anywhere. Crazy to order an online watch from a brand with QC issues without being able to try on the watch you will be buying first. I’ve avoided buying micro brand watches for this reason. They may look good in a photo but I want to see the watch in person before buying. Looking forward to seeing some micro brands at the Windup Watch Fair in Chicago this weekend.

·

Wow! This isn’t the first I’ve heard about their QC and garbage customer service. I’m taking them off my list. Guess what Yema, you screw a Cruncher, there are consequences.

·

I have been tempted by their watches but hearing too many horror stories about quality and customer service that it has kept me from ordering.

·

I have a Yema that I ordered and should have returned.  Took a screw driver to get the bracelet clasp lock open. Anyway, I've never worn it.  I got busy and forgot about it . My two weeks to return are long gone. Maybe I'll give it away. Sad

·

Good lord. I’m sorry to hear that. I was going to consider the superman 500, but now I am staying away.

A lot of forums are seen by google and if you put all the right trigger words in your posts to them it will show up when people seek reviews of them. Google has a review feature in their search engine. Threaten them with mass reviews all over the internet which they care about. Good news travels nowhere and bad news travels everywhere.

·

Wow that's awful..  It shouldn't be too much to get the hair out but thats kinda the least of your worries.  What movement do these have?

·

Seems like a chinese brands nowdays has a better QC... I bought so many affordable chinese brands like heimdallr, seestern and escapement time, and so far everything were lined up perfectly, no debris in the dial, finishing also really good. Sorry for your experience dude...

·

Sorry to hear that. Nothing worse than waiting and waiting to get an item, and then being disappointed.  You could always try selling, or would make a great gift as a first watch for a younger or newer collector.

Sad to see posts like this. I own a Yema rallygraf. Albeit an entry level watch in their catalogue, my experience was positive. Got the watch with a bit of a discount, arrived rather quickly and no QC issues on my unit. At this point the amount of people experiencing negative customer service is overwhelming and it has to be taken note of. Which is a shame because Yema has such potential with their history, designs and origin. Hope your story has a positive ending my friend 🙌

I‘ve seen too many reviews like yours to think this just an outlier. Sorry you have to deal with this, but hopefully you saved someone else similar grief. Thank you for sharing.

·

Haven't had a bad experience with my Yemas, but really sorry to hear about your experience. It is unacceptable to return a watch in that condition - there just is no excuse for it. Unbelievable!

·

A hair? That‘s gross!

·

Yema quickly dethroning Smiths/timefactors from being the king of bad reputation. Unfavorable reviews seem to be piling up - sad to see.

·

Man!! I was so hoping these reviews would get a little better on Yema but that customer service nightmare pretty much seals for me. I won't even get into the hair!!! Sorry you had that experience and thank you for sharing.

·

Wow!!! I was actually considering to buy a Navygraf during their summer sale. Really sorry for your terrible experience!

Thanks for sharing and helping us avoid the same experience. Maybe there’s more than a little truth to the phrase “you get what you pay for” At the lower end of the spectrum.

Any other sub $2k brands you’ve had good or bad experiences with?

The Merci LMM and Unimatic watches  are real eye catchers from a dial design perspective.

I heard the horror stories and decided to buy a Yema Superman Bronze when they went on sale. Low and behold, about 2 weeks into owning it, the date wheel seized and would no longer turn over automatically, and would have to be changed manually every day. I did however have a wonderful experience with their customer service. So I believe that it may depend on who you get on their side as to whether or not your experience will be good. I reached out and sent in pics of the stuck date wheel. They sent me the label and arranged the pickup for me to send it back to France via DHL and promised it would be fixed and returned within 6 weeks. It arrived back in the allotted timeframe and I have not had any issues with it since. I will not recommend the brand to others based on the experiences many have had, but I also won't take any action against them. I feel that not recommending them is enough, based on the experience I had with the company. Especially since the movement in the Superman Bronze is their "new" "in-house" movement, so I sort of expected some there to be an issue eventually.

·

Brutal!  Thanks for the public update about your experience 👍

·

I shall promptly strike them from the list. Sad to see though.
