Sinn for the Win!

The Sinn 556a RS, aka Darth Vader, came into my collection from a close friend of mine on insta who knew if he ever wanted to sell it, i was the one who would take the bait. He was right!

I welcomed this very special piece into my collection with gifting it a mustard CNS ribbed nato. I personally like the look of the mustard strap on Darth but, nothing speak vintage pilots/field watch than a crisp leather strap!

Which do you prefer, nato or leather straps with your field/pilots watch?

I also want this or 856 utc but really hard to find one to try on in Vancouver. Someday. Congrats on amazing piece 🙂

Thats a great watch and I have it close on my radar. I'm a tudor fan and have tried on the Ranger but it didn't grab me. Then I saw the 556a RS and it really appeals. Haven't tried one in the flesh yet though.

I would stick it on a decent nato although I would aim to buy it on the bracelet. Leather would be my least favourite but that's just me!

Lovely watch and I do like your strap color choice... not a color I would have picked but that is the beauty of WC, seeing someone else's vision realized. It works.

Personally I am a pretty die hard bracelet guy with rubber/silicone holding a distant second... but IMO that watch would look amazing with a black Vario silicone strap with light grey stitching. Enjoy your new watch.

I like the look of that watch. Why is it called Darth Vader? That kind of association would make it less desirable to me…

·

Wow, the combination with the yellow strap looks amazing!

It would be awosome if the secounds hand would match the color.

The H-Link Sinn bracelet looks fantastic on that watch. But I've been hard pressed to put anything other than an FKM rubber strap on pretty much everything I wear these days. They are just so comfortable and because the ones I've been buying have a bit of a shape molded into them, they sit really well on the wrist and stop the watch from spinning around. For the 556? I'd might do a red strap to play off the second hand.

Or maybe the black....

But they are quick swap, so probably one of each, right? They may seem boring but they are good quality, super comfy, and you don't want the strap competing with the watch itself, right?

I never would have thought of putting it on mustard yellow and it looks great on that colour so maybe that's the secret best option.

Funnily enough I’m just setting off for a week in Iceland. Didn’t want to take multiple watches. There’s going to be a lot of hiking so wanted to take something rugged.

Put my Sinn 556i RS on an Erica’s Original MN strap and it’s turned it into a completely different watch. Perfect.

I am usually leaning toward the elastic straps but in this case I'd rock a single-pass with a red accent. Something like the C&B Chevron. Less bulk, great security and neat aesthetics. 😎

Darth Vader! Might be my favourite Sinn, congrats!

The 556 looks great on everything.

Love that mustard. I put my 556A on a 2-piece NATO from watch bandits. Kind of pricey but it’s absolutely amazing both visually and for comfort

Congrats on your new piece! I love these Sinn's and am currently on the hunt for an everyday field/pilot watch. Def leaning toward something from Sinn I think. Personally, I have larger wrists and plan on wearing mine on Nato! I'm always a sucker for bracelets over all, but have really grown to love Natos, rubber, and some canvas straps that fit right.

Thank you! I also want to try on the 856 utc but I don’t have anywhere clear to try one on… Maybe I will get lucky at a meet up!

I am interested in the Sinn 556 but I bought 4 x Seiko Alpinists and theSinn's power reserve seems to be less than competitors' options....

I agree 100%! I am a Tudor fan too but, the Ranger wasn’t what I hoped for… anyways, the Sinn looks good on everything I put on it but, still thinking about buying the bracelet just don’t want to spend the extra 💰 right now.

I have not even handled a sinn in the flesh yet but I think that watch may be my next big purchase ( and a good deal cheaper than the Ranger!)

Sinn is right up there, but my interest in piqued with Oris, Tudor, Damasko, Christopher Ward, Longines, Formex, and some others. Lots and lots of options out there that's for sure. Mainly I'm after a really slick black dial do anything type of piece. I used to own a Serica 4512 that I really enjoyed. The field/pilot style dials are great and super useful to me! Mainly I'm a diver guy, but wanting a little slimmer and versatile in my next piece.

All very good options! I have never seen Damasko or a CW in the flesh but, I know the rest are really good bang for your buck!

Yeah you could say that if more power reserve is something that is a must have, but for me not so much as I have a lot of pieces and either way I’ll probably have to spend time winding it up when I want to wear it.

Dumb question: why do they call it a Darth Vader?

I think the RS models look good on black leather with red stitching, or on the H-link bracelet.

I have the 556I RS and have put it on Nato's to Leather Straps. I think for 80% of the time, I have it on in a casual, 'knock around the home' way, so prefer single piece Natos, for this purpose.

It’s a Star Wars reference to the red seconds hand.

So many sexy Sinn’s!

Nato straps are always superior to leather straps imo.
