Three watch collection

If you could only have three watches in your collection, what would they be and why? Would they all be from the same brand or a mixture? Would they all be grails?

For me, I’d need a daily GADA, my personal grail Submariner and my dads watch. What about you? They are: my Zenith Pilot Chronograph, Rolex Datejust (dad’s gift) and Rolex Daytona.

C and D for me. I'm not into "high horology" much at the moment and I love variety. Not sure exactly which 3 from my collection (my own trinity) but it'd likely be a mix of brands.

Three from same brand.

That's an amazing collection. I see you love blue, maybe a blue dial reverso?

Thanks!. You mean I should've gotten a blue dial Reverso? Yeah, I should've.

My watch interests sit firmly on the tool/beater side of the spectrum, so my three would be spread out while remaining in that category.

First would be a premium mechanical that can be worn in most situations without needing to be babied, which would probably be either an SMP300 or a Planet Ocean.

Second would be a more affordable and easily repairable mechanical that I can wear with virtually zero anxiety regarding damage or theft, which would probably be my GSAR or potentially a Sinn 556A RS (Or a U50 if they ever slap the UX hands on it).

Third would be a g shock for the times I would fully expect to damage a mechanical movement or just filthy tasks, which would probably be my recently acquired mudmaster.

Going off this list, I already have two of my three, but the GSAR's niche might get a little more crowded at some point.

If I could choose from the same brand, it would be Rolex Explorer, Submariner, and OP.

From three brands, it would be Monta Triumph, Tudor Ranger, and Rolex OP.

·

Similar to Dallen, my watch collection leans more on the tool/beater side. I am careful with my watches but I also like them to be on the hardier side.

I have my Casio A700 for everyday errands. I have a G-Shock Square for hikes and outdoor activities. And I plan on picking up a Grand Seiko Heritage, Hamilton Murph or a Sinn 556A (maybe RS but I heard they have some QC issues which is offputting) this year as my third and dressier option. You’ll notice that all three also have at least 100m water resist.

Of course, there are acceptable substitutes that you can fill in. They would be the Sinn 556 a r/s, Omega Aqua Terra, Rolex Explorer, and a few others that are similar, but you get the picture.

Working on my collection. Next will be a Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition, God willing. Also wouldn't mind a Marathon General Purpose quartz. Love the triton on those..

Has to be a mix. And not just brands, but countries too. This is my collection now, although it's more than 3 watches. But I'm trying to sample as many countries as I can, and not do duplicate brands. It's tough, Longines makes a lot of good stuff, but I already have one!

My best favorite brand

Longines

Oris

Baume&mercier

I just posted this yesterday but thought I'd share here as well.

·

I would do 5 and add a Rolex and Cartier

·

Rolex Explorer. Speedmaster 38. Cartier Tank.

·

I couldn’t choose.

I have a watch from each of my grandfathers, a watch from my dad, the watch my wife bought me for our wedding and another she bought me for our 5 year anniversary, plus several other sentimental pieces. I can’t choose 3

My own trinity would be the jewellery trio consisting of Cartier, Bulgari, and Tiffany (and Chopard and Piaget).

Cartier was my first watch love, and the Cle will never leave my collection ... voluntarily at least. Their jewellery selections are no joke as well. They would represent the French side of jewellery and watch design.

Image

History considered, I think Piaget is more deserving of a spot but I chose Bulgari because they are distinctly Italian in design. I found the Octo Finissimo too angular for my taste however, maybe the Roma would suit me well.

Lastly Tiffany never had a strong presence in the watch world but I think they're very American in design. The 1837 might not be the most celebrated watch but it looks very enticing. (Aside, I think Tiffany missed an opportunity by not releasing a Silver version of the 1837 several years back).

Awesome, I was debating between a mix but if two are from the same brand it doesn't count as a mix ya?

If I had to kick one out, it would be the Chrono.

If I had a three watch collection, I would want some variety and not all the same type of watch or all from the same brand

·

My collection is four - I think it covers the bases really well and I don’t want for anything else.

  1. GADA/Travel: Rolex GMT II

  2. Dress: Chopard LUC 16/1867

  3. Chrono: Zenith Chronomaster Original

  4. “Beater”: Oris Cal 400 Diver
