JLC Reverso vs. IWC Big Pilot

I have been wanting a JLC reverso since 2005 when I first saw one in German airport duty free. Although it’s the first “sports watch” today it seems to fall in the dress category. Pilot watches were really never my thing, I understand the reason for the font size etc but always looked out of proportion. JLC reverso with an annual calendar complication or duo time will be my pick.

I love both of these models so much it’s crazy but that JLC is just on another level!

IWC Pilot watches are awesome, but you can find great pilot watches from other watchmakers at a lower price point than JLC IMO. With the same kind of history, etc.

But Reverso ... 😍 Oh myyyy. Only JLC is producing those watches. These are quite unique.

Where do you want the IWC corpse taken? B/c that Reverso in particular is an absolute killer.

A man that I have known for a long time recently returned from Dubai, collected both JLC and IWC with a fervour, seems to be in contact with the local buy and sell community here, knows all the trends. Refers to the huge reversos collection that he used to own and the two IWC pilot’s watches still in his collection to be mistakes. I assume he is referring to ease of selling in the secondary market. I have no experience with either brand. The one time that I examined the IWC Big Pilot in a boutique found the finish not up to its quite high list price. During recent times both the Reverso and pilot style watches appear to be passe’. That is the chatter that I have picked up from some veteran sellers and even enthusiasts of both brands.

I'm abstaining from voting as I really am sick of one and the other is meant to be worn over a coat. I will note that one of them is not absurdly large.

I have a Reverso and a IWC pilot mark 18.

I picked the IWC because you can rock it anywhere.

The reverso, I only wear it during formal events.

The IWC is overpriced for what it offers. If I'm spending that kind of coin, it better be something special.

Reverso all the way. Imagine dropping 5 figures on an IWC and in a meet up somebody asks you “hey, what model of Laco is that?” 😂

I vote IWC not because I think JLC is less good but because the square watches are really not my stuff but I dream to own a JLC

An odd mix here. I would have paired it against a Cartier tank. In this battle, JLC all day.

I had to go with the IWC Big Pilot on this one. Even though reverso is also an amazing machine. It’s mainly because the IWC
