If it’s not a moon watch, is it a Speedmaster?

Only the Omega Speedmaster Professional on its different variants and caliber is the “Moonwatch”, and all Omega Speedmasters are “Speedys” regardless of their specific models. Therefore not all Speedies are Moonwatches but all Moonwatches are indeed Speedies.

I mean, the original Speedmaster wasn't a Moonwatch, so if we're going to argue on the basis of originality, the Moonwatch is the imitator.

It’s complicated to discuss horology with purists as the goalposts are always changing. The main teaching is not taking horology too seriously.

Anything that has "Speedmaster" on the dial is a Speedy. Writing "Moonwatch" on the case doesn't make it Moonwatch. Only a Speedy with a 321 is a Moonwatch. Omega can eat my shorts.

All Speedys are Speedmasters, but not all Moonwatches are Omega 😉

Pretty confident the Seiko Pogue only made it as far as Skylab in LEO

@PoorMansRolex for the record. I agree with you. If they came out with a McDonald’s collaboration as a kids toy to celebrate the moon landing and came out with a McMoonWatch, I’d still consider it a Speedy. Hell, I’d want one! 🤣🤣🤣

If Omega calls it a Speedmaster I’m not sure how any of us can say it’s not a Speedmaster. They made it and they get to name it, not us.

An Aqua Terra is still a Seamaster, it’s just not a Seamaster Professional.

IMHO, the only "Moon watch" are the watches that actually went to the Moon. I mean the actual watches worn by the astronauts. The rest are Omega Speed Masters. In fact, the name says it all. The original speed master was meant to appeal to car racing fans. Omega didn't even know it was being tested and accepted by NASA until after the trip.

The only “Moon Watch” are the Speedmasters that were actually worn on the moon. The rest are facsimiles and are about as genuine as the MoonSwatch.

I own a Professional and a Date. I love them both. And I consider both Speedmasters.

Rolex and Bulova have been on the lunar surface. Are they moon watches too?

I consider the manual wind not the Auto to be the moonwatch.
