Nato watch straps. Yay or nay?

Now I know this is just a personal preference and mean no offense to my fellow crunchers that are nato strap fans. But I just don’t get them. They’re too much. Makes your wrist stand out more. I just prefer something simple that doesn’t take away from the watch. WHO’S WITH ME!?

And the answer is...

There you have it - it's settled. Unanimously "do not like." We can finally put the issue to rest.

It depends on the watch.

·

But it looks so pretty…. 🥺

I'm more into bracelets and rubber straps in short.

·

So happy to see more of us anti nato citizens coming out 💯

·

NATO straps are more about comfort and security than looks.

·

Usually it's a no, but sometimes it works, or just gives a different look for a while...

The only thing I dislike about NATOs is all the extra layers of nylon under the watch. It raises the watch further up off my wrist.

Nato Straps ❤️

They're good enough military men

They're good enough James Bond

They're good enough for a king

Most of all, they're good enough for me

·

I don't mind them on certain of my watches - but I am not a NATO strap collector or advocate.

·

They are fine for paramilitary or otherwise casual watches. The silly hardware becomes a bit much for a nice dress watch.

@Jack76 I don’t care if every cruncher on this app likes Nato straps, I simply do not like them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Umm..ok😆

Everything has it's place. The majority of my watches are on leather straps. But I have watches with braclets and I have nato straps. But ofcourse you're not going to put a nato on a thin dress watch.

·

For casual outfits with field watches and Divers for sure. I am of the opinion that bracelets make most watches disappear when combined with many casual outfits.

·

I don’t like them. If I feel I need the look of a NATO, I will use a single pass strap instead. Crown & Buckle Chevron straps are my favorite single pass straps because the length is adjustable.

·

I prefer rubber or sailcloth rubber straps.

Don’t like the bulk of a nato strap.

I've tried to love them, but I still find they completely upset the visual balance between the watch and the strap because of all the bulk and keepers they create above and below the lugs.

My solution is two piece nylon straps instead.

That's exactly why we find them cool. It makes my sport watch look very aggressive, sporty, manly.

Some even made a single pass one but keep all the bulk for the aesthetics.

Aggressive = manly 🥱

It depends on the watch.

Yes on a Hamilton Khaki Mechanical because it's military-inspired, thin, and has long lugs that allow room for the stap(s) to pass.
