Yes - 39 mm Tudor GMT

Exciting new 39mm GMT release from Tudor. Not BB58. More like Explorer II. I’m sure there will be a long line of new versionen the years to come.

I’m excited but will wait for a Polar version (or Pepsi BB58). What about you?

I like the release. Not for expected I'm genuinely impressed. Will have to wait to learn about the case height as the movement seems to be rather tall. Not sure how a polar would look, but that sure looks like an interesting proposal.

Agree, the hight will be of huge importance. At the moment I’m just glad they came down to 39mm.

Yes, that is a good indicative, but we will have to wait and see. If around 13mm or so, would be a good candidate. In the video kind of appears slimmer than the 41mm GMT.

  • edit - over 14 mm... mmmhhh. Too too much but will need to try it on.

I would love to see a Tudor BB58 GMT Coke (black and red) !
This re-issue of the original Explorer ii (1655)... i am not sure, i'll have to see it in person before being able to judge it. (at least now i have weekend plans haha)

I’m interested of what’s round the corner. I have been interested of Polar for a long time but the present one is to big for me and the pre owner has become too expensive (IMO).

Looks really, really cool. Very curious about the thickness though. Have they managed to make it thinner than the OG Tudor GMT, considering they're using the same movement?

Absolutely. I guess we are a bunch hoping for that. Fingers crossed.

I saw someone comment on IG that it was 14.3 mm vs the 11.9mm. I’ll have to see how it wears, but suspect this will likely be my first GMT!

·

I'm glad Tudor is trying something mildly fresh with the Black Bay series, even if it is yet another BB and not something new. That being said it's not the most inspired design to me, seems like they've just mashed together the usual BB dial with an extra hand and the bezel from the old ref 1655 Explorer II.

14.6mm thick as well- that's actually thicker than the regular Pelagos and around 2mm thicker than the Pelagos FXD 😮

This is the only watch over 3K that has caught my attention during the last couple of years. I love it. And I'm a Rolex owner, but Tudor has released something much better than Rolex this year. I don't want a modern Rolex, but I want this modern Tudor! I can't wait to check it out in real life. It looks awesome, good for you Tudor! You are gonna sell this one like hot cakes.

I’m OK with the design but 14,6 was a downer😟

Hodinkee says 14.6mm thick 😬 will have to wait to see how it fits but not as promising as initial impressions

I also think it’s a blockbuster warning for this.

Tudor has chosen fake patina for the lum. I've just realized that. Not for me then. But it's gonna sell incredibly well, as it is a gorgeous sports watch.

·

It certainly looks good from this angle. From what I'm being told, it's pretty thick. Will have to wait until I can get one in hand before I make any final judgement on it. But with the new clasp, it looks pretty good so far.

·

It's OK, but my wallet is safe.

I have my eye on a Tudor, and I'm in the market for a GMT, but I have to say, I'm disappointed in the Tudor releases. The regular Black Bay GMTs are too big for me to wear, so two tone doesn't change anything. The 39mm Pro could be interesting, but I don't really like the look. It's too... sterile? industrial? And the bezel doesn't rotate. I've learned just how useful a rotating bezel is on a GMT. And now I hear it's 14.6mm thick. 39 x 14.6 sounds like a tuna can. The BB and BB Pro both have the same movement, so I guess the thickness is a function of the movement. So even if they release a BB58 GMT, we won't get the sleekness of the BB58, which was a big part of what attracted me to it in the first place. Sigh.

So, what to do? Will there be more release this year? Do I pull the trigger on the BB58 bronze (and hope the waiting list isn't too long)? Wait and see? At this rate, I could dither forever.

Ya, that MT5652 is a chunky monkey at 7.5 mm.  I know it isn't exactly the same but that is around 2x the thickness of ETA or Sellita GMT movements.  If they could get those GMTs anywhere under 14 it would be a great improvement.  They could shave some of it, I think, if they dropped the WR to 100 meters instead of 200.  The GMT-Master II is only 100 and comes in at 12mm.  Not sure what the current 3285 movement height is.  I couldn't find that info.

It seems to me that the Pro is going to look even taller than the regular GMT given the narrower case.

Some of the bulk could be mitigated with some sort of chamfer around the bottom edge too.  Any kind of chamfer for the love of god.

It just occurred to me that that might be why we got a BB Pro rather than Black Bay 58 GMT. Sleek dimensions are one of the signature design elements of the BB58, and if the movement means the case has to 14+mm thick, rather than force chunkiness onto a BB58, they decided to come up with something else altogether. It's just unfortunate that I don't particularly like that something else.

·

This is a really interesting one.

·

As a Rolex 16570 polar owner, this BB Pro could have been a perfect pairing.....I can't get over that 14.6mm thickness.....based on how little reporting there is on the thickness, I believe this number is probably accurate.....I was waiting for this year's releases before pulling the trigger on my next watch..... It's gonna be either a BB58 in black or a BB36 in silver for me this year..... plenty of aftermarket bracelets from Uncle Seiko to wet my appetite for either of those models.

·

Yes I like this quite a lot. Probably not enough to buy one though. Polar would be great too. Not a huge fan of the rivet looks of the bracelet.

I have the BB58. Have had it for over 2 years. I know it is a dealbraker for many but honestly on the wrist you never notice the rivets.

Definately the best release today. Will check out that watch in person.

I'm not really concerned about the thickness, since the crystal is a domed vintage style crystal, adding to the height. My Planet Ocean is 43,5mm diameter and 16.5mm height, yet it feels more like a 42mm/14mm height watch.

My hope as well👍

·

Woof. I love it.

·

I'm torn. I expected it to just be a smaller BB GMT. I like them going for a different design but it feels too much like a Rolex Explorer 2, and not in a good way. It's like a cheap knockoff. I dunno, maybe just need to get used to it?

·

I‘m with you, as soon as a white dial version of this comes out I’m heading straight to the Tudor AD.

·

I love this watch! Tudor did a awsome job definitely picking up one. The vintage vibe is what makes this time piece.

·

They could have used some color on that old girl and i'm willing to look past the plus size back side. Would still buy it anyway.
