I can’t resist a nice Pie Pan

You who knows me on the forum knows that Omega Pie Pans is one of my favourite watches. My favourite model is the 168.005 with it’s dog leg lugs. Together with some other references I imagined I had enough variants of the Pie Pan dial. I was wrong.

When I saw this tuxedo dial gold capped variant popping up I couldn’t resist. I have a birthday upcoming which I thought was a good enough excuse to bring the watch to my watchbox.

This is the not so popular 168.025 from the late 60s. My sample is from 1969. There is probably 2 reasons why this model is less popular than the 168.005. It has very short lugs making the watch less elegant. I see it as more sporty. It also have a uniblock case meaning there is no caseback. You open the watch from the front removing the chrystal. That’s no problem for me since I never open my watches myself. The case is 34mm and and a lug to lug just round 40mm.

My sample is a gold capped variant with a tuxedo dial with a light brown outer ring and a chocolate brown center. A lovely color combination with just enough contrast, but the thing that won me over was the bold dark indicis creating an extra dimension to the dial.

For you interested there is a guy on the tube who used the name ”The Omega enthusiast” (same as his webbshop). Now he is the ”Timeless History Channel”. Attached is a video about less popular Constellation models including the 168.025.

Good choise👍 They are a really good modern iteration of the Pie Pan. Both in blue, as in your case, and in white.

Every time you post a picture of your pie pan on here I remember I desperately need one in my collection. 👌

They are nice and there are plenty of them out there👌 That’s my dilemma, refering to your Seamaster post.

I understand, but I've come to accept if I like the 300m that much it's absolutely fine to have multiples of it. After all, our collections are for our own enjoyment, not to please others.

Enjoy your constellations in all their pie pan glory!

Thank you Craig🙏 Take a deep look into the ”Timeless…” channel on YT. He’s the man when it comes to vintage Omegas. Case shapes, dials, crowns…

Before a health episode my cat resembled this big boi, I always referred to him as "a throw rug with attitude."

Happy early birthday and enjoy the pie pan.

Thank you! I don’t know about this reference but earlier references came with both pie pan and traditional dial.
