I wanted to provide a safe space where you can vent your controversial considerations, and unpopular opinions - without ridicule or repercussion..
Then I realized I'm not kidding anyone. This is the internet. You will be judged, argued with and despised! But at least you'll have exercised your right to freedom of speech..
For example:
I think the Speedmaster is s***, and I don't care if one once went to the moon
Natos are fugly
I don't like Lange or F.PJourne dials
Bring it on..

"In house movements are a hype scam."
Seiko's "amazing" dials look like garbage. GS dials look good, but the ones on the standard Seiko's just look cheap.
We don’t need another watch…
I think that here in Kanuckistan we are being lead by a bunch of commies! Errr, oh ya, wrong website! 😉 😉
Sinn watches are ugly.
It would be fantastic if there were more 35mm automatic watches available…
Navitimer > Speedy
Related to that I always hate the "nobody needs a watch"... It is false.
Many people need watches, just because some people are unable to see past their own experiences does not mean their experiences are universal.
Pet hates-
Round lume plots 🤮
Date complications 😡
Hype
I like to point out that pocket watches existed before wrist watches, so modern pocket watches(phones) are not a replacement for wrist watches.
That fact that Tudor makes a great watch but they can’t design anything interesting or good looking. There’s only one great boring watch brand. Rolex has that wrapped up.
- tired seeing genta design (inspired or the real one), so overated
- hublot classic fushion isnt an ugly watch except for the unaligned screw
- dont like formex watch (why they even won the wc hottest microbrand). screw on the front side of the watch are ugly, and the case are too chunky
there you go, i promised i never speak about that again lol
Rolex ADs are really nice, kind, unsnobbish, honourable people who never, ever sell stock to grey dealers who can provide you with the watch you want within a week at a massive premium - even though there are none in the Rolex store!
Hardlex is not a bad crystal material.
I have to admit I do not see the appeal of Nato straps at all. Bulky and unappealing. I'm not cosplaying a soldier. Leather straps and metal bracelets are just so much more elegant.
Right, let’s offend everyone…
There are only really 4 types of watch, and all watches can be divided as such: “Diver”, “Chrono”, “Rolex”, and “Casio”.
i.e. Tudor BB58 - diver
Omega Seamaster - diver
Rolex Daytona - Rolex (duh)
Casio DW6000 - Casio (duh)
Omega Speedmaster - Chrono
Seiko “Arnie” - ana-digi > digi > Casio
Omega Railmaster - chronometer > Chrono
Hublot Big Bang > chrono
Hublot Classic Fusion > luxury over £1000 > “Rolex”
Tissot PRX > luxury under £1000 > “Casio”
VC Overseas > “Rolex”
PP Nautilus > Diver (clue is in the name)
VC with Perpetual Calender > complication > “chrono”
Swatch > Casio
Panerai - diver
Citizen Eco-Drive > Casio
Grand Seiko > luxury over £1000 > “Rolex”
This is infallible… (this is going to piss a lot of people off 😂 and I just don’t care…). Try it, it’s easy.
(If you are still reading this - chill… if you’re worked up, then I’ve done my job).

How would you class an IWC Pilot Mark? It looks like a Casio, but costs Rolex money, it has no buttons and doesn't dive too deep..

Ok let's go.
Bracelets aren't watch parts, they are merely easily changed accessories.
Bracelets suck, people only like them because they've been taught to like them.
Anything you wouldnt know unless told (In-house, Swiss made, hand crafted, etc) are all just stories/narrative/marketing. Preferring in-house is the same as buying a watch because it was worn by James Bond - either is just picking a story you like.
The correct place for a date is the 430 position.
Timeless and versatile watches are polite ways of saying dull.
A luxury item can't be value for money, value destroys luxury.
If you aren't in control of what you like other people are.
People in the past only wore small watches because they had no other choices, they didn't choose them, that they wore small watches doesnt make small watches ok. Its worth noting that after WW2 when the new science of ergonomics went mainstream watches all got bigger.
No one cares more intensely than the person that posts on social media that they don't care. That person just lacks the confidence to say what they really mean.
Art is different to craft (and art has no relationship to money) - there are mass-produced $200 watches that are brilliant art and handcrafted, one-off 1 million dollar watches that have no artfulness at all.
Things can be objectively different but they cant be objectively "better". Declaring something "better" requires prioritizing characteristics and every priority is subjective.
Caring about resale value and caring what other people think is in effect the same thing. Saying you buy what you like but giving a toss about resale value is oxomoronic.
There are three parts to watchmaking. The hardest is designing a great watch, slightly easier but still difficult is selling a great watch, by far the easiest part of watchmaking is making a great watch.
99% of so-called "homage" watches are horribly overpriced knockoffs.
A tool watch must be quartz, made of plastic and cost less than $100.
I quibble with Pete at TheEscapementRoom.

I really wish "the watch regulator" guy on tik tok would have something nice to say about watches. He seems to have been so badly tainted by his swatch experience, he seems to hate everything about horology!

Told you…
Tag Heur are overpriced but their kinda nice
I much prefer flat crystals over domed ones.
Tag Heur are overpriced but their kinda nice
This isn’t really a hot take, they are… they’ve gone a bit off the boil recently. They are part of LVMH so look at the rest of the portfolio and see where you think they might fit? It’s hard.
Take that new-ish silver dialled Carerra chronograph, absolutely beautiful but I think they were asking 6Gs. That’s about the same price as a Hublot Classic Fusion, also LVMH. For a G/1.5G more you could get Zenith El Primero, also LVMH, so if you had that sort of money and you wanted to give it to LVMH, what would you do? It’s a tricky one isn’t it, but I would wager that the answer isn’t buying the Tag.
Oh… and before anyone accuses me of being anti-Tag, I’m a huge fan. I’ll defend them for many things, and to a point, but currently I’m struggling to see the appeal of them as Swiss watches get even more expensive, and they struggle to find their place within the current LVMH watch portfolio.
Watch Crunch would be better if most recent posts in a thread appeared at the top, and when replying to a post it would be sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better if it appeared under the original post rather than halfway down the thread in the style of a "Quote Tweet". This is the hill I am prepared to die on.
Grand Seiko is nothing without the Spring Drive, Zaratsu polishing and dial design
JLC is overpriced
AP's only relevant watch is the Royal Oak
Seiko has the same QC issues as Invicta

Can you expand on the JLC opinion? For me, they are bargain VC/APs..

Years ago, you could get a JLC Reverso for less than 10 grand. Now, they range from 15-20 grand. That to me is ridiculously overpriced
let's open the gates :
G-Shocks are at best kids' toys, but cannot qualify as proper watches
The alledged "managed scarcity" of Rolex watches is a conspiracy theory, no more valid than the flat earth nonsense
Vacheron Constantion 2022 model is a shameful and lazy rehash of flogged-to-death Genta ideas which had delivered all they could 40 years and should have been left to die and never be seen again
Moser watches are, for the most part, very expensive jokes on the people who buy them
FP Jour watches would look so much better if they did not have these stupidly shaped hands
Watchfinder videos were more interesting when we did not know who Andrew Morgan was
François-Henry Bennahmias should have been jailed for the damage he caused to Andemars Piguet
Since the demise of the 5196R, they are very few attractive Patek Philippe watches
the Citizen "The Citizen" AQ4091-56 is the best wrist-watch ever
Overpriced "patinaed" watches on grey market dealers websites are only damaged goods, not charming old objects
