Micro Tournament... Am I the drama!?

Firstly, I'm really enjoying learning about the different brands pitched against each other in the Micro Tournament - many of which I've never heard of. So a big THANK YOU to @AllTheWatches for pulling this monster together.

However, I am discovering that more often than not, I am voting for the 'losing' brands. It's quite the eye opener. Day to day, I find I'm very aligned with most of the WC community.. so when the choice is black and white and I click the vote button, I'm shocked how frequently my interpretation differs from others. It's good, it's healthy, but it's surprising.

I enjoy challenging my own biases and preconceptions, and I try to push myself to better understand a topic/brand I'm ill informed about. So I've committed to learning about each brand, their movements and story before I cast my vote. (I have to admit, it's hard to shrug off the hype machines and actually vote objectively). But invariably, I cast my vote to the lame ducks! And I'm left wondering, Am I the drama!?!

Anyone else in the same boat!? Feel free to share your specific rants and utter travesties of justice..

Lol, same here. I'm not into microbrands, only have limited experience as they're not my thing - clearly demonstrated by the fact I've pretty much voted for the "looser" in every round!! 🤣👍🏻

Good post 👍 and as you say kudos to @AllTheWatches

I’m not into microbrands generally, with little experience. To my knowledge I voted 3 times. All by mistake when I scrolled down the posts.

lol. I love the caveat "to my knowledge..", which translates to "there were almost certainly 3 times more instances I don't care to admit to" where your technical ineptitude has irreversibly thrown off the results of this incredibly important tournament.

Might I recommend you keep that loose trigger finger away from Ebay & Chrono24..

I noticed something interesting in the first few days of the tournament. I was consistently voting for the losing brand, however my vote aligned with the green check mark Crunchers (the watch brand guys) except for Max. It took about eleven or twelve polls before @Max and I voted alike.

I take the time to look at most of the brands' selections even if I think that I know what they offer. I vote for a brand that I think that I could own. The decision is only difficult when I could easily own both. The dive and strictly tool watch brands are at a disadvantage with me because that is not where my tastes congregate.

I know that @AllTheWatches takes this seriously. He keeps lists and charts. He solicited suggestions and if you didn't suggest your favorite micro then there really is no reason to complain. Actually, there really isn't a reason to complain at all. We don't buy watches based on a poll of anonymous people on the internet (right?). We gather information about quality, specs, and customer service and find one that fits us. The knowledge and exposure provided by this exercise will be helpful to some.

I am the guy who suggested S.U.F. Helsinki. I knew that it would lose. I am just gratified that more people got to see the brand and their watches. They are not for everyone and are much more expensive than watches with a similar purpose. However, in the next year one Cruncher, maybe me, may buy one based on this new found appreciation for the brand. And that will be repeated for many brands, win or lose in a poll. Really, no brand loses. They get seen by a narrow watch buying public and discussed. They would pay for that exposure if they could.

Vote on what you like. Stop worrying about what others think. I vote and yes it's a hit and miss who cares. It's all subjective. Nice to see all these brands. Not into those other brands ie Rolex, Tudor, Omega....Swatch. So common. I understand their quality and build and heritage. No desire to own one.
