Support your local AD Part 3 - Jaeger LeCoultre
This is not a new watch to me. I found it in autumn 2022 but haven’t made any presentation of it before. It’s another sample what could be found at my local ADs pre loved section.
The watch is a solid gold dress watch from the late 50s. The watch is powered by a manual wind caliber P478. It has white or cream enabled dial with applied indicies in gold. The hands are not in best state but I can overlook that fact. I’m the second owner. The watch was originally given to the first owner as a sign of achievement as a company man in 1957. At an old age he sold it to my AD and finally became mine.
JLC as a brand need no further presentation. This particular watch is no classic, like a Memovox from the era, but still a nice looking dress watch.
I collect new as well as vintage. I have a weak spot for 50s and 60s Omegas. Besides from those I consider myself allround.

I'm not a big JLC fan (don't hate them), but I have to say that's a beautiful watch. Almost understated.
Thanks for sharing, beautiful watch. I think the clean dial design, sharp hands with the minute hand extending to the markers make for an elegant presentation. Great style and a good find. Now, off the the AD . . .

So his not into watches much. That’s a pity but he must have a watchmaker connection if he gives 6 month guarantee. The Hermes and the Junghans looks great at least. Good luck.

The watch guy just rents the cabinet space in the antiques shop, so that he can put his watches on display. The guy who actually runs the shop isn't a watch guy at all sadly.

Whew! Beautiful classic watch!!! Anything from 1957 I love I call a Bel Air for the iconic '57 Bel Air Chevy. Can't go there with this JLC! This is more of a '57 Rolls Phantom

”57 Rolls Phantom”. I like that. Thank you❤ When I was young I built 2 plastic scale kit cars. One was a Mercury -49 and the other a Chevy-57.

Would the Antique Shop give you the contact info for the vendor displaying the watches? If so, maybe you can reach out directly? I ran into something similar near me and the shop passed along his contact info when I had more question. Can't hurt to ask.
