NATO straps have their place. They’re utilitarian, no more, no less.

·

I don't have any NATOs. At some point I'll try one but they look bulky

Yesss sir 🫡

There a great way refresh a watch. I’ve a Hamilton pilot that’s a strap monster and I’ve just ordered my 3rd nato for it. There great and very light to wear

Look into single pass style nato straps. CNS paratrooper straps and Crown and Buckle chevron straps are both ones I’ve had and really liked that never added any bulk under the watch, as well as not having that huge bit of excess.

Tried and failed at getting on with natos 👎

·

NATO needs all the support it can get…uh you were talking about straps right? 🤣

I cut the keepers off mine to make them single pass

Cut off the unnecessary or buy Singlepass.

I think you have a good argument about how tall a Nato strap can make your watch sit on the wrist, but overall I am a big fan of Nato straps. Admittedly, on thicker watches I will usually cut off the extra under strap so it sits closer to the wrist. I am also in the military so a big part of it is the aesthetic.

Love the article my dude. 🤙🏻

As you no doubt know, I'm alliance all the way.

Still enjoy a good steel/rubber option, but for most days I prefer the extra security/adjustability of a single pass. Mainly cuz work can get weird, 0-100mph at no notice.

Next time I throw the Zane's Handmade horse rump on the diver I'll take a side shot, but I don't remember it having too much overhang.

The Nyberg Made AWWC in the pic had some small gap in the morning, by afternoon it had confirmed nicely, and I went a hole smaller.

And pics...👀🤏🏻😉🤙🏻

Whenever you do get the Falcon, can't wait for you to rock it. I'd also HIGHLY recommend springing for the engraving.

TBH, I really have zero interest in any field-y explorer luxury, the Falcon is all I need at this point.

Keep the articles coming!! 👌🏻🤌🏻

I'm definitely getting the engraving. Just need to figure out what it will be.

Love it NATO, good read, thanks Todd 👍🏻👍🏻

·

I am part of the alliance but I enjoyed your article. You make some very valid points especially how companies don’t show the side shot, lol.

·

Yes sir, for casual everyday wear. When I want to dress it up a bit, fine the nato comes off.

·

I hate Nato straps!!! On top of that, they never seem to stay within budget! I mean, I've allotted 2% to Nato's, but they never ever even come close to 2%!!!

·

I am not a NATO lover. They do not look good the way they fold over the lugs. It looks bulky and cheap. They add to the thickness of the watch. I do like the canvas two-piece strap, but that takes away the two items I mentioned above of why I do not like NATO's.

...wearing them properly with the buckle and loops under my wrist. 😉

Great read. I only have one nato and it's on my little seiko 5 field watch. I think it's fine for that watch. I hated my vostok on the cheap nato it came with and threw that on a bund. It totally changed the look of the watch (for the better). I don't mind the bulky bund, maybe because of the nostalgic look of it. There are some nice natos out there but the style just isn't for me, especially on high end watches.

·

I am on the fence. Some look great and some don't, its just like some straps (regardless of the type) suit a watch and some just do not work. I have some that I think are OK but none that I absolutely love. Where I would disagree is that with some leather NATO's they are thin and work well. I have a Barton for my Casio Duro that works a treat and is very thin. But I would say this is an exception in my experience.
