Exit watch….

Ok, considering selling the entire collection (mostly) and going for an exit watch. My choice would be one of these. Both understated, but versitle enough to be worn anywhere with anything. If you had to choose, which would you go for?

I think the Explorer is a bit more gada in my humble opinion. Tough call to route and ‘exit’ !

Ah, good luck.

I've had two "exit" watches. 5-6 years ago it was an Oris Aquis I sold out for. Kept it for 18 months as the collection grew again.

Then 3 years ago was fortunate enough to get my long term grail, SM300 heritage and that satiated the watch lust for a while.

Exit watch? Good luck.

Voted Explorer, the obvious choice.

Do you need the date complication?

If not, then the Explorer is the easy choice.

·

Datejust because imo because I always hate having no date

·

If you’re set on smooth bezel, explorer. If you’d consider fluted and jubilee, DJ.

Yeah that’s actually a main factor in swaying me toward the Datejust. I’m a big fan of having a date. I can live without it, but at this price point….do I want to. Hmmm….maybe start saving for both 😂

·

I’d go for the Explorer because I don’t like the cyclops on the Datejust and I find the DJ with smooth bezel and oyster bracelet a bit bland.

·

I’ve wondered if an exit watch could ever work for me. The Explorer and no date Submariner would be top candidates for me.

·

You and I are in the same boat! I'm in the process of assessing the feasibility of this very same thing.

I chose the Explorer. I've owned one in the past, and they're fantastic watches! The 40mm makes them even more versatile and contemporary.

Honestly though, there's no bad choice between these two.

Don't forget to add a G-Shock to your exit strategy!

I think if you decided to exit, then do it, like quitting smoking, cold turkey. Sell everything. Otherwise, it is not really an exit. Since you have a watch, you start comparing it to what is new and available, and a little later you find yourself with a new collection. If you do not have anything, you have nothing to compare, so you do not even looks at new stuff.

·

the answer is yes ! you should allways have two exists (just for safety) :)

·

Even though I have the 40mm Explorer I voted for the datejust because I like having a date on my watch. If I ever get called for the Datejust I’ll trade the Explorer for it.

·

having the date is better

·

A, dj in 36, unless you have a bigger wrist. Look like any other plain watches out there than the signature dial of explorer.

·

You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave

·

Yes, don't leave us!!

·

Both are great watches. You can’t go wrong with either one.

·

This might offend some of the Explorer fans but I personally find the marketing of the Explorer a bit gimmicky, and given they are similar somewhat similar (overall design language), as such I would opt for the Datejust.

·

The Datejust prolly covers the dressier end of things better, so more versatile overall. But if you want to know what I’d get, I prefer tool watch aesthetic myself, so I voted Explorer. (Always fun to spend other people’s money, hypothetically. 😄)

·

DJ, but don't count out the 36mm size unless you know you want the larger 41mm. DJ is a much more versatile watch IMO as your only watch.

·

Any long standing watch collector knows that an exit watch is a myth 😂

·

Datejust 41 for my vote!

·

I hate the dj cyclops so voted explorer but I would actually go for an op

·

I would go with the datejust. Both watches can do it all but the cyclops always gets me.

·

Datejust, obviously. The Explorer is a field watch plus it doesn’t have a date, so already clearly less GADA than the DJ. The DJ doesn’t really fall into category (i.e. field, tool, chronograph, gmt what have you) and the smooth bezel makes it a little more understated than fluted bezel.

Oh, there’s also the OP that has the 3,6,9 Explorer dial. There’s some on C24.
