Which watch would Bond be issued with today?

Today is apparently James Bond day (first I've ever heard about it) apparently it's due to the fact that Dr No was released on the 5th of October.

Now, forgetting about Ian Fleming mentioning Rolex in the books and the modern portrayals with Omega Seamasters, what watch would 007 actually be issued today?

Bear in mind the perpetual cost cutting in the defence budget, the fact that hardly anyone gets issued anything anymore and whatever he was issued he'd have to give back.

It needs to be practical, rugged, but also capable of working with a suit. And no a G-Shock doesn't really go with a suit.

Interested to hear your thoughts!

He'd wear a smart watch today.

@Porthole has suggested that this be the next Watch collab with the James Bond franchise...

Ah that's perfect, a giant mirror ball on the wrist where one stray reflection would light up a room!

·

He’d most likely get a London based company Christopher Ward Trident black dial.

Something cheap and throw away but looks good from 20 feet.

I always thought Bond probably bought his own watches as they're far too nice for government issue. Goodness knows how he affords them on a public sector salary. Inherited wealth?

Casio Duro would be a good choice - tough enough for those underwater missions, dressy enough for a DJ (tuxedo for our American friends) and a way of living within his means. Or a Vostok Amphibia, just to troll the opposition.

Exactly my thoughts, and clearly what CWC think themselves as they mentioned in one of their posts today, hence my inspiration for this post

I was going by the OP's statement about budget restrictions. Having previously been a UK public servant for 30 yrs I have a good idea of the cost cutting, and crappy equipment that results from it. 😉🙂

·

Bond doesn’t have a budget, his cars, clothes, etc has to match the lifestyle he is infiltrating. The answer is, and always will be (for me) Roger Smith.

·

Aqua Terra imo makes the most sense…

·

Connery had the best watch in the first few movies.

·

I would say Seamaster 300 Heritage but in titanium.

He is a commander making money and unlimited spending card cuddling with the jet set and he will be using a Casio?

"issued" I.e. provided and paid for by the UK government being the key word in the OP. So yes, cheap and cheerful Casio.

·

Probably a Timex. I do believe that is about all the MI6 budget can aford now. 😂

Usually the military has security concerns with smart watches. So, doubtful

"Q" would take care of those concerns with a few alterations.

He's "Q" . That's what he does.

·

Cartier Tank SolarBeat. Classy, dressy, but can still take a beating. No need to wind or service.

·

It has to look good with a suit, but also be gshock level durable? I'd say a formex leggera

·

He would be issued a Tudor Pelagos. SAS,SBS, and Ministry approved.

·

Tudor FXD, black.

·

I think he'd wear a Seiko

I thought the same but #cwc give away to much identity…

·

Some Sinn diver…I mean those are (in my opinion) those most “tool” watches currently made

·

Its time Bond comes back to Rolex - A Daytona 116520 with black dial and red markings - Thats what he needs

·

Maybe one of these? Stealthy, British, armed forces approved yet still cool with a tux
