Do not really care for him, but likely follow suit in that I would keep the collection to a relative amount (120) and start working on custom one-offs with manufacturers directly.

Agree about your sentiments on this individual, he is just well enough known to use as an example:) nice answer by the way :)

I have nothing against him, seems like a nice enough guy, but has put his name on some lousy products over the years, but then again, who am I to judge? They cannot all be winners I suppose <Cough FTX>. In all seriousness, it is cool he puts himself out there to discuss something as trivial as watches. Many at that level don't bother.
I'd definitely allocate accordingly some additional resources to the watch collection (and other hobbies). I don't think I would want something like a watch room, but I would like to try to do a new collection. Maybe try to get one of every Speedmaster ever made, something like that.
I'd have what I have now, but the luxury version. Since I started working from home two years ago, I transformed my office into a watch/collectible room. It evolved slowly but I think it kinds of looks like an old time watch shop and have all 90 of my watches displayed in the room. All my watches are budget and mostly Timex, so If I was a multi millionaire, I would do the high end version of that. I love looking at my watches like it's a museum, but it's in my house so I can do it daily.
As strange as it may sound, the collection I have is pretty much the one that I want. I honestly don't think much would change if I had more money to spend.

I would hope that if I became that wealthy, some additional level of spending discipline helped get me there. Therefore, in that scenario, most of my current collection would exit and I would buy 10-12 heavy hitters; a Speedy of course would be first.
I would at least have a piece of furniture for my watches. Maybe experiment more with vintage. I would also use my wealth/fame as leverage to see, try, and buy watches. And invest in microbrands, of course, "I'll give you all of the money, for 25% of the company." 😁.
For context, Kevin O'Leary's wife was famously at the wheel of a power boat that ran into another power boat at night on a lake in Ontario killing two people on the other boat. She was found not-guilty of any wrong-doing.
I think I’d take a similar approach that Mr Wonderful employs of really learning the story of a brand, more watches isn’t enjoyable when money is no object, it’s just writing a check, what’s the enjoyment? Hunting for vintage, or collaborative efforts with designers makes more sense for my enjoyment vs just buying watches.

Money buys every thing unfortunately. That's awful .
Many watches, but only two wrists. Watches are only as good as when you wear and appreciate them. Kevin O'Leary has a forum to wear and display his watches on his TV appearances, and he loves to do that; it's his passion. If you have the occasion to be able to wear your watches frequently in everyday settings, it make sense to have large collections. Buying a watch, sticking it in a box in a closet and calling it "collecting" is proably more like hoarding. You enjoy watches so much more when you wear them.

I think I’d have a watch room. A small one. But still boutique style, in the basement.
I think I'd probably stop collecting watches and start trying to buy watch companies.

I have no idea what K O ‘s wife is into lo .
I imagine I’d have some sort of Watch winder display Like this:
Set it up in an office and then have a matching 3 watch box for the manual Winds. Add a vault that would hold double the number of pieces.
I like your thinking 🤔

Totally agree. I wouldn't be able to wear all the watches but I'd still be able to admire them in the cases.
money cannot buy taste, that is all

still keep it to 12 max , I just dnt want to have to worry about curating a collection more than that.
gifts excluded of course

I only know what that is because two coworkers told me. 😂

I would do the same actually. Swap out the collection for the icons .

Billionaire:)
Billionaire:)
If I had that kind of money, the level of bling encrusted watches I would own would cause my shoulders to dislocate.
None, I'd buy a house! 😜
