It seems these days anything from Rolex is polarizing but within my personal collection, it's probably the white dial ceramic SS Daytona. People either love it (because uh Daytona) or hate it (because some consider it a "hype" watch).

I honestly don't understand how anybody can not like (or at least appreciate) that piece. But each to their own.
I am hoping to get the Ranger by the end of the year as long as I like it in person. I don’t understand all the hate for that watch. It seems like an amazing field watch to me. It’s not supposed to be an Explorer. It’s not supposed to be fancy. It is a tool watch and it executes that perfectly. I think the painted markers and lume color are fantastic for the style of watch it is.
bidirectional friction fit. The minutes are displayed as tics digitally around the edge of the dial (in addition to the regular digital display), so you can use the bezel to time… or you could just use the timer function. 🤣
You mean bots are responding to watch posts? No, most people who I interact with on a day-to-day basis IRL would have no idea what watch it is, and even less so have an opinion about it. Online, even in non-watch forums, it triggers some reactions. I partially understand that, as companies like Invicta are pushing product through shopping channels, and some of that marketing is pretty hard to stomach. But that's also the reason why a modded Invicta messes with that perception.

I bet most people who see it in the real world (who aren't watch people) think it's cool. And as long as you like it. Would you recommend?

I mean, how many people actually use a bezel to time anything after the novelty has worn off anyway? Do you use it? I sometimes use my diver to time my baby's nap!

Oh yes, I would definitely recommend getting an inexpensive watch, regardless of brand, and modding it to your liking. This way you get exactly what you want in that sense. If you look for components yourself, you also get a better sense for what makes a watch expensive..
In that sense I understand the Ranger controversy.

I wouldn’t say I use my timing bezels often, but when you need them they are very handy. I’ve used them to time the interval between doses of Narcan to save people overdosing on heroine/fentanyl. I have 12 hour bezels on a couple of my divers, and track other time zones occasionally.
@Candide3693 any pieces that people either love or hate??
I would have to say that the pieces in my collection people either seem to love or hate have a digital display or an Islander logo on them, for the most part. 🤣 The Islander logo and homage business model both seem to be polarizing. The digital watches that seem to attract notice, both positive and negative are the red LED two-hand operation watches; my Bulova Computron and Arnitron Griffy.

Still the most beautiful watch face I have ever seen.

As a matter of sporting loyalties, I couldn't wear a red and white watch BUT I like it!
IWC Ingenieur (recently discontinued). A lot of people think it’s boring and overpriced, but I love it.

And that's all that matters.
Totally understand why you love (and will probably never get rid of) it.

That Tudor is a beauty, but can understand people who at a glance might say it's too close to an explorer

Of course. It's a cross between an early 1016 and the 39mm. But it's nothing like the Explorer 'available' today.
Great watch. I too cannot stand Invicta’s over-the-top designs. But this 40mm Pro Diver has impressive specs for the price.

Well. That'll do it.

Who exactly has a problem with this?

Is it the specific watch or is it just homage haters who just hate them all?
How does the bezel work?

Real people? Or online people?

I think it’s more of an Invicta thing.

Wouldn't know where to start!

People get kind of worked up about homage.
