That's awesomeness right there!!! That Autavia and Manhattan are pretty cool

·

Ohhh Laaalaaa!!! That Autavia 1978!!! Love this Box !!

·

This Heuer museum is top shelf. My favorite has to be the 1978 Autavia. Aquagraph GMT has to be a close 2nd. This might be my favorite TAG collection I’ve seen and overall

I am the original owner of the Autavia, a gift from my parents.  My father had the rare gold plated/gold dial version.  His was destroyed by being flooded with water, while mine survives.

Love the Monaco. Beautiful collection !

It’s truly beautiful. I have a newer Autavia chrono reverse panda but I rather favor yours. Especially with the left side crown. Really cool that you’ve had this as 1st owner. Hard to find used and usually go for $$$.

Great and toolie box. Many favourites to choose from but the Autavia is great.

My father paid $185.00 for it brand new.  It was purchased at Abraham & Strauss department store in New York City.

The crown is on the left on these because there was no choice!  There was a race to have the first automatic chronograph movement and this one was there at the beginning (1969).  If you aren't familiar you can google the story (Caliber 11).  This one being a mid to late run piece has a Caliber 12 which is the same but with some updates.  The original Autavia ran from 1969 until 1984, (with some slight case changes) and the demise of the Heuer company.

·

I knew the 11 was developed with Heuer and Breitling. On your promt I learned Hamilton-Buren and Dupois-Depraz as well participated.

“The calibre 12 was introduced in 1971 and was produced until 1980. The calibre 12 addressed a few of the issues that appeared with the calibre 11’s, modifications included using lighter jumper springs, a weaker mainspring to drive a redesigned date mechanism, some strengthening of various levers and hammers and a faster beat rate of 21,600 as opposed to the cal 11’s 19,800.”

Again, such a classy piece in great condition with amazing patina on the lume.

I love the 2- tone 90’s TAGs. Don’t let go of the 1st.

Love that aquagraph! How does it wear? Also hard to justify a chrono with a countdown bezel bezel!

The Aquagraph wears like a thicker Aquaracer of the period as the case style is related.  It is quite compact and dense for a 500m watch; I have the rubber strap and the bracelet option.  I just leave it on the bracelet pretty much all the time now.  This watch has a couple of really cool features- You can use the chronograph pushers underwater, the 60 minute large hand totalizer, the spring action push to turn unidirectional locking bezel, and the screw down crown indicator.

Wow them Tags are heavy hitters right there a very respectable collection.

·

That's a cracking collection!
