Tudor bezel marker issues

For the second time, I have lost part or all of the marker on my Tudor Pelagos. Several months ago I realized two of the rectangular markers (official name please!) had fallen out of the bezel. No impact or other damage to the bezel, just ‘popped out’.

I sent it back for warranty work and all was good. But here we go again… part of the ‘5’ in the ‘50’ marker broke off. It’s back again to service.

Has anyone else had this issue with their bezel markers, especially on the Pelagos?

I love the watch, and the brand, but this is challenging.

There was another post on here recently with the same issue. Seems like this is a “known problem” with Tudor. Disappointing to say the least! Good luck getting it right.

Ouch! Didn’t know the markers could break off! So disappointing!

Oh, I should have searched first. Sorry about the post spam/redundancy.

·

I would expect this on a budget watch but not a Tudor. That’s awful

Nope… nothing to apologize for and sorry if my response inferred that. It just seems like Tudor has a QC problem with their bezel Lume. Super disappointing coming from that brand!

Your response was completely fine, I just realized I should’ve looked into hear. I did find a post from a year ago with the exact same missing markers from my first experience with the problem.

Although it is my EDC watch, I’m fortunate to have other watches to wear. 😋

Good… can’t have you going watch less while it’s being fixed!

It's unfortunately a known issue with the Peli , seen it come up a quite a few times on various groups.

·

Yikes, that’s rough man. Issues like that take the love out of the timepiece 🙁

·

Just happened on my Seamaster 300. Headed to the AD next week to see what they have to say about warranty.

crazy when you consider how expensive the watch is.

·

That’s so weird. Never seen that happen on any Tudor before this.

Ugh. I’ve been intrigued by that watch. Hope you have a good outcome.

I think I saw a post on here about missing lume from the bezel of a Seamaster as well. Seems like an issue with lume application on Ceramic bezels.

Holy cow - like half half the bezel markings are gone!

To see this issue on both an Omega SM and a Tudor is kind of shocking. Wonder if exposure to certain chemicals or temp extremes contribute? I really hope you both get full coverage for this, under warranty or not it looks like a defect.

I don't own either of these brands, but am now curious how widespread it is. For what it's worth - all my divers, old and new, are good! (just checked!)

It's not the first time I've heard problems with very new models from Tudor. That makes me really thoughtful because I'm thinking about buying a BB Chrono Panda 🐼, but first I preferred to choose the IWC pilot Chrono 41mm.

·

It's either a problem from Tudor side or an issue with the lume material from the supplier they use, it's quite a common problem with the Pelagos and some Omegas which has a lumed bezel.

Pelagos seems to be having the most problems, especially with the 5-minute marker batons falling off or breaking into smaller pieces being the most common problem. Pelagos has been known for having lume issues even with the newer 39mm, the Tudor subreddit has these posts often complaining about the lume on Tudor watches.

I suspect it's more of the lume material issue, which doesn't hold up well over time. Whatever supplier Tudor and Omega use for their SuperLuminova, they need to sort this out.

Hope Tudor sorts it out. Sending to service often and waiting for it is the biggest issue.

I honestly wouldn't even expect it then (unless we're talking like $60 or something).

·

Pelagos and lume don’t go together - it’s a well-known issue

Thanks. I love the watch. Highly recommend it.

I was in both situations at the same time. Extreme temperature and humidity swings (heavy AC in a Deep South heat wave) and in and out of a heavily chlorinated hot pool and the ocean all within a few hours.

Other than this the watch is fantastic. Runs about +4 seconds a day and looks great in any situation.

That was probably my Seamaster 300 post you saw. It has an aluminum bezel.

·

Second time happening to the same watch? I would be inclined to ask for a replacement instead of a repair

·

I can't believe they made this mistake, probably a cost cutting measure. These are not inexpensive pieces and should have the requisite durability. This is a major and uncharacteristic error by Rolex/Tudor.

·

This is one of the reasons I’m a bit weary in buying watches where either the lume or paint material is exposed to the elements.

·

These are aluminum bezels, right?

·

Lume fell off my Pelagos too. Staffer at the AD infuriated me by raising "wear and tear" even though I'd only had it ten months. There had always been too much play with the bezel too. This was the same idiot who sold it to me in the first place and told me you couldn't hack the seconds when he was setting the time.

The problem? It was a Rolex boutique and he clearly couldn't bother to learn anything about the "lesser" watches he was selling.

Off it went to the service centre, where they replaced the bezel. But it took nearly five months.

Conclusion? A great watch with severely sub optimal after purchase service.

And buy your Tudor from a Tudor store, not a Rolex store

indices (singular index) is the proper term

·

Sorry to hear it man. Hope you can figure it already.

·

Man, some replicas may be better built than that. Shame on tudor...
