Calls from the Rolex AD: 3rd time’s the charm

Yesterday I received the third offer for a Rolex from my AD, and after saying no to a Sub, and then no to a GMT Master with an Oyster bracelet, I finally said yes to the GMT Master II black/blue with a Jubilee bracelet (126710BLNR). Picked it up today but I need some extra links. But I finally have it, and it joins my Sea-Dweller 116600.

It would appear the scarceness is abating to some degree!

Congrats! Glad real watch enthusiasts can now get the watches they want.

Glad that the hype buying/selling is finally coming to a close.

My guess is that ADs will be making a lot of calls over the next couple of months.

Great looking watch!

Congratulations!!

Congrats on your new watch and having the guts to turn down 2 others ,may I ask how long you waited

Congrats, a young guy who loves Rolex watches but works for an ad as a person of authority that does not sell Rolex informs me that regular customers are receiving calls mostly because grey market buyers have become more selective with models they will take from ads. He claims the Rolex ad that sells to him has never sold to grey market resellers. I know the company that he is referring to, believe that might be true but ads selling to grey market guys during the past few years is such a hateful practice, difficult to gloss over.

Congrats! Great patience and persistence pays off!

Did you give the AD a wish list of different models or were they just calling you with random, but harder to get, models? Was the watch you got the one you asked for?

I asked for a GMT on Jubilee, with the preference for the Bat…whatever. 😊 So I did get what I wanted. To be fair the left-hand GMT would’ve also been pretty sweet. Maybe someday?

I think the bat jubilee is one of the nicest combinations. Unless I was somebody who likes wearing watches on my right hand, I could not live with a date at 9 O’Clock.

I get the logic of offering a BLNR on an oyster as an alternative, but baffled by the sub. No wonder it takes so long for everybody to get the watch they want if the ADs are handling allocations that way

I hear you @doolittle but i have a thing for non-standard crown poisitions Part of that is because of my wrist size and shape, the watch is always going to put a standard crown into the top of my hand. So there is a potential practical value but i also just think they are cool. And the awkward date position is more of the same! They had to create a bespoke date wheel for that model/version, right? Rare, quirky, interesting. Imagine if it was a roulette date too!

Congratulations. This is the one i'd go for I think.

Congrats! I just got mine today at an AD in Baku :) apparently we’re lucky with the ADs here and the supply, cause I got mine without any prior purchase history and waitlists. I went there 3 times, 1st to see what they have, and they offered me and my friend Oyster Perpetuals, Subs (Date/No Date), an Explorer 2 and some Datejusts. The 2nd time I went there with my friend again, and he got his Sub No Date. That time they showed me the GMT Master 2 but said for now it’s exhibition only. And finally today I went there and said I want it. After a bit of mingling around and them offering me a Datejust 41 with fluded bezel and Wimbledon Dial, I got a green light for the GMT!
