Are You Suffering From Seasonal Watch Affective Disorder?

I got up yesterday, had my coffee, got dressed, and opened up my watch box. "What will I wear today?" I thought.

I looked over the rows of velvety pillows and felt... Nothing. No interest. No joy. No spark. I didn't feel like wearing anything. It all seemed so pointless. I felt as bleak and listless as the barren trees under the slate gray sky outside my window.

There I was, with weeks and weeks of cold, rainy weather still to endure and I was already undone by February, which let's be honest, is the Actual Worst Month.

February, the Worst Month

I looked back at my watch box. Leather. More leather. NATOs in earth tones. Autumnal palette. Why even bother?

"Oh no," I thought, "this is it. It's happening. Seasonal Watch Affective Disorder. I'm doomed. Maybe I won't even wear a watch today. Maybe I'll just walk around with a naked wrist because nothing matters anyway..."

I sighed with all the ennui of a French philosopher and my gaze slid over to my strap box. I suddenly knew what I had to do. I had to bring out the big guns. I had to get out the Unseasonable Summer Straps™! 😱

Image

It's come to this. Desperate times call for desperate measures. So I fished out my spring bars and got after it. Peach, teal, Flamingo, electric blue... With each strap change I felt myself coming back to life! And with new shoes for the gang, I felt myself drawing back from the abyss. Saved. It was a close one.

Image

This is it, folks. This is how we get through the rest of winter. With Unseasonable Summer Straps™. Together.

Ooh, yes! I love an orange strap on a watch with an orange second hand! Beautiful diver as well!

·

Swapping straps sounds easier then paint modding a Casio for colour on your wrist 👍

·

You write very well, maybe start your own blog 🙂 Great stuff, glad you were able to pull back from the edge.

·

Color fixes everything !

That's what I'm talking about! Lovely Sugess and perfect strap combo! 👌

·

I have on the odd occasion, used a different colour strap on either end of the watch.

Change a dial and/ or hands perhaps.

Failing that, browse Ebay: Caveat: I'm not responsible for your buying habits. 😛

I now have the urge to browse bright coloured straps of any type. Unlike my previous comment, I will hold you responsible for any dumb purchases. 🤔🙄

Casio has been known to do that on G Shocks from time to time and I think it's a really fun look! Gotta love a playful summer colorway!

I'm a huge fan of my Morellato leather strap in this turquoisey blue colour. I wear this for all seasons, but it goes especially well with the beach!

Just in Friday I received 2 new straps from Ali and now I need more, damn you guys. Both of those new straps are black and now I feel a burning hole for a joyful strap in my chest.

My daughter looked at my wrist and stated “white band and sakura dial, that’s not a winter watch! (It was dark and rainy out as usual)

I said - “Sweetie, I need to wear this because it’s wintery outside!!

How many watches are in your collection?

Great post!

15 - 20 in rotation. A few others waiting to be rehomed or have their fates decided.

I've got... Just the cure... It's called Wearing-too-many-watches-n-straps-syndrome... 😁

What kind of movement does that have? 😂

Timex should have you on the payroll. This is like an Expedition Lookbook '24!

Solar. It's called Natural Light. Runs on chlorophyll n it's plant cell based. Batteries not needed (I can hear someone squeal), Daylight savings time even... 😁
