Let's get weird.

Ok, you digital degenerates! For your enjoyment/consternation today, I present you this:

This cheap, resin, digital Casio on a vintage style leather band. Specifically, the W93H-1AV.

It's not retro-cool, it's retro-dorky. It's not a metal mod and it's not chrome-plated. It is not iconic. It is not ironic. It's not even the other version of this watch, which might actually get away with it.

So Casio Council, devotees of the Covenant of Quartz, what is your judgement? Is this heresy, enlightenment, or just plain madness?

So cool! Here is my AL190W on a suede strap.

Glad to see I am not the only one that likes Casio on leather!

I actually like the look, but I am going this route just because you mentioned it.

Now that is a fun one! The big, visible solar panel really says late 70's/early 80's. And the "batteryless" text? Priceless. ♥👍🏽

The straps and back lights are the Achilles heels of Casio. I placed a brown leather on an AE1000 and a black leather on an CA-53. Makes all the difference.

Most of Casio's resin straps are all kinds of wrong. The one on the MQ-24 line is their most comfortable by far.

I've worn this a lot on an aftermarket silicone or NASA strap, but decided to dust it off and see if it can be dressed up a bit. 🤔

I agree!! My AL190W doesn't even have a backlight and came on a hairpuller special. 🤣

The only Casio resin straps I have come across that are better are the premium straps on the G Shock GW5000U and GMWB5000 models, but I do not have a MQ-24. Do you know if the straps are comparable?

I don't have either of those Gs so I'm not sure. It's just a softer, more supple version of the resin on the F91w. It's also got better ventilation because it includes the little knobbies down the sides on the bottom of the strap.

But yeah, in the cheap end of the Casio pool, it's just a much better feeling strap than the other basic module resin straps. Kind of like the CA53 strap in softness, but more pliable.

OK, I have a CA53, so I am familiar with that strap, and the premium G Shock straps are just a bit softer and more pliable.

I see you W-93h and raise you an AE-1200 with the Jaye and Kaye lug adapter and a vintage style leather strap.

If I saw that in a shop window, I would go in and buy it.

Agree. I hear "godtier" throw around rhis brand and I disagree. They make wonderful watches but no one is perfect. That said I have tons of them. Yet even then, supermodels do have some pimples.

I love it! As a die-hard Casio fan, I say go for it! Casio is certainly a diverse company filled with a plethora of ideas and innovations. Embrace the daring spirit of creativity and invention. Bravo! 👍
