New to the hobby

I'm pretty new to watches as a hobby. I've always liked them ever since I had an old yellow G-Shock something-or-other as a kid, and when I was 16 I was gifted a nice Certina. I wore that for many years into my 30's, until it took an unfortunate tumble to the bathroom floor and broke. Since then, I've been without a watch for a couple of years. I had been thinking on and off for a long time about getting a Casio again, as I knew they were great watches for the price. I never chanced upon one that I really liked and could afford at the same time. Recently, my SO were in the market for a new smart watch and I decided to have another look around for a Casio. I discovered an ae1200 for half-off, and at $45 I couldn't pass it up. It is such a cool watch. I've changed the watchband, mostly just to try it out, and am saving up for a Kranio case. Might put some filters on it in time as well, once I decide what colours to go for. I'm very pleased to once again have a watch on my wrist, especially one that I enjoy as much as I do the Royale.

Out of my watches....casio speaks to me the most....hard to describe why that is.. kinda like falling in love.....not sure why...casio has always had that effect on me

Welcome! I have the same one and love the way it looks, unabashedly digital. Especially love the timezone on a world map on the top right!

It is definitely a cool watch.

Thanks! Yeah I dig the pure, nice digital look of it. The world map is very cool!

Thanks! Yeah, Casios seem to be several times cheaper in the US than here (assuming that is where you are from). Regardless, I'm happy I spent the money for this great watch.

For sure the price is a selling point for me, but there is just something really cool and utilitarian about the Casios for me. Particularly the digital ones. Proven reliability with often a somewhat retro look. Whatever it is, I dig it. It feels like a watch I can wear anytime, anywhere.
