Watch pet peeves?

Anything just look off or put you off of watches that contain them my personal peeve is external bezels for the most part that look bulky and out of place most of the time but they have a place

Mine are external date magnifiers (blobs spawn) and external helium escape valves (devil's carbuncle) looking at you omega.

·

Slaved 24 hour subdials … oh, and “signature” hour hands (Rolex and Tudor in particular).

·

I have too many to list but the number 1 peeve for me is a poorly executed date window.

·

Date complications, round indices, Mercedes hands, not a big fan of textured dials (sorry GS) , overly colourful dials, anything that strays into the jewellery category (most haute horology crosses the line for me) . Digital displays. Leather.

I'm pretty picky 🤣🤣

·

I do not like fluted bezels at all.

·

Non color matched date window.

It can sometimes work if it matches the indices with symmetry, but usually the watch would be better without a date window. Heck I even don’t mind a ghost date if the alternative is a poor date window execution.

·

GMT hands that are more noticeable than the normal hour hand. How do people put up with this?

·

Dumb names and typography (hello China), fluted bezels, roman numerals, 369 dials, gemstones, plastic and anything "tactical".

·

Crowns that aren’t shrouded. Date that is too small to read (I’m old) . Anything that interferes with legibility . I used to love chronographs and now I can’t stand them

·

Exhibition casebacks on watches with very ordinary movements. Why showcase something that’s at best ho-hum?

·

Not a fan of bright colours.

·

I'm way too picky 🙂

My favorite watch quirk lol

·

My top 3!

Over size watch!

Cheap metal jingy hair pulling bracelet strap!

A spec of dust or odd error marking inside the dial.

·

"Applied" markers and logos, that are actually embossed.

Bracelets in general, but especially when fitted with long bulky clasps.

Watches that are simply uncomfortable to wear.

Tool watches (divers especially) with fashion coloured and textured dials.... YAK.....

Chronographs with unreadable subdials.

I can stand the "lollipop" second hands. I understand is a homage to their history. Yes, I'm talking to you Omega 300.

·

Bad logos and stupid names.
