Your Pick: Sinn 556A or Serica 6190 Denali

In many ways, these watches are quite similar: they are both in the €1000 range (Serica is €990, Sinn is €1100 on leather strap). Both have very wearable dimensions (the Serica coming in slightly smaller at 37.7mm while the Sinn is 38.5mm). Both have Swiss automatic movements - the Sinn sports a Sellita SW200-1, while the Serica houses a Soprod M100 (COSC-certified). Both have a sapphire crystal of course, and both have a similar field austere field watch design language.

So while they're quite comparable, they do have quite a different feel to them. I can't choose. If you had to, which one would be your pick?

To me, the Sinn dial is infinitely better looking. Everything is legible and well-proportioned (maybe the date window is too small?). I don’t know what those dots are on the Serica dial, but to me they don’t look right.

·

Sorry but nah!

·

Sinn. If they only made that date window large enough to be useful, I would have owned it years ago. Better yet, give me a no date option and I’ll buy it today.

·

Sinn all day long, I much prefer that dial

Do it

Agreed I think the 556 doesn't need a date window.

The Serica crown looks a tad oversized making the Sinn look more of a balanced design.

·

Sinn! As a German and Sinn owner, there is only one answer…

Sinn for me :)

·

Since the specs are comparable, I’ll judge on aesthetics - and would pick the Sinn. Dial is much better laid out - and I don’t like arrow hands!

·

Sinn - not even a second thought.

·

I’ve owned the Serica and it’s a great watch; very easy to wear. I don’t have any experience with Sinn.

·

Sinn might have the pedigree, but there's no denying Serica's designs are infinitely more interesting.

I do love Serica's designs... they're super unique. I also think the Denali would look incredible on a NATO or canvas strap.

Indeed! Why run with the pack when you can blaze your own trail?

·

Tricky one. I’d probably get the Sinn, possibly as I’d prefer the sellita movement. Also having got my fingers burnt with Yema I’m a bit cautious of French watches.

The Serica I prefer is the commando which could tempt me but I’d still go for the Sinn.

·

Sinn. Not even a comparison. I really dig the Serica designs, but there are questions about the movements and service after the sale. I’m sure they are good but the Sinn is really great.

·

Sinn for industrail german tool watch. Serica for GADA able to dress up.

·

Sinn for the win!

·

Sinn! Hands down!

·

I prefer the serica. I do think the serica is more interesting from a design perspective and like how it is a tiny bit more 'dressy' than the 556a. 556a with it's all brushed case and flat black dial seems more 'toolish'.

Serica 6190 with the enamel black and polished bits and twisted lug seems to carry more dressy elements.

For myself, I prefer arabic 1-12 dials therefore I'm considering the commando. The 556 doesn't come in that dial config. The 556i is smart looking too, but I think it is a bit lacking for the price. None of that sinn tech. Do like that it does have a date tho.

·

S E R I C A !!

But I‘d go for the commando dial.

Don’t listen to me though, I‘m a hopeless fanboy 🤓

This 💯🙌🎯

I own both a Serica and Sinn, not these models though, 8315 and 104 respectivly. They are both fantastic watches. I love the smaller size of the Serica. My Sinn is less accurate at around +10 spd. But they're different. I would decide based on your other watches. Serica is more vintage, Sinn is more timeless. The 556 is more versatile in my opinion of the two. If this is your only watch, that would be my pic. If you want to add a great vintage inspired watch, go for the Serica. I hope this helps!
