What else do you collect and how many?

So you collect watches. Do you collect other things and if so, what? And how many have you got of those other things? My tally to date, is 31 watches, 22 pairs of shoes and 12 hats (fedoras, trilbies and Panamas).

Freud would have a field day. 🥺

Oh yeah I collect coffee machines as well and as of late watch straps lmao!!

·

11 "serious" watches, 12 "fun" watches, 35 decks of cards, 40 lego models of cars, and an unhealthy number of tins of Dubbin wax and shoe polish

·

I'm heavy into the board gaming hobby and I have about 150 board games, but I wouldn't call myself a collector. More of an enthusiast. I know of a lot of people with 1500-2000 games in their collections.

Oh mate you got one! I asked for that set and the DeLorean for my birthday. Can't find either in stores where did you get yours?

·

Let's see, I have collected fantasy and science fiction books, comic books, and action figures since I was a kid, and role playing games and board games since my teenage years. I have hundreds of books, comics, games, and action figures. I also collect DVDs and Blue Rays (cartoons, movies, and TV shows), J. R. R. Tolkien collectibles, neck ties, flip flops, tie pins, and cuff links. Probably over a thousand DVDs and Blue Rays together, hundreds of Tolkien collectibles, including four replica swords, dozens of neck ties, and less than a dozen each of flip flops, cuff links, and tie pins. Watches are actually one of the more recent collections for me.

If I had space & money...

Avid reader, when I see a good collection I grab it. Found the entire History of Civilization (western) by Will and Ariel Durant on the coast a few years ago for $40.

I try not to get out of hand with too much else, I have a small house. I like Legos but can't store a bunch. Watches take up so little room...

we had a lot in my store in CT… let me know if your interested ill try to get another  one if you want and ship it to you

Honestly nothing.  At various times I've had multiples of things (skis, kayaks, fly rods, backpacks) for different purposes, but I'm down to 0 or 1 of most things.

I have a handful of watches (7), but I don't consider them a curated collection.

Arguably the happiest I've ever felt was when I could easily put all of my belongings in my truck and still sleep in the back; I think I've been chasing that feeling (within the boundaries of adult family responsibilities) for a few years, now.

I’m a collector of everyday carry so I’ve got 12 watches, 17 folding knives, 7 wallets, 9 edc pens, 5 key carriers and a whole load of different pocket and multi tools.
Hi I’m Matt and I have a problem.😐

·

I was a bit of a pocket knife collector over the last 12 years or so. Mostly Spyderco, but plenty of others too. I’ve lost count of how many I have. I sold off a big chunk of my collection a couple years ago, but still probably have between 150 and 200. I used to be into flashlights too, but only have a couple dozen at the moment. DVDs, video games, and consoles also, but not to a crazy degree.

I'll keep looking here then I may take you up on that offer. Will you display it in robot form or truck form?

They say three or more of anything is a collection. So I collect lots of other things. But my main long term passion is Godzilla. This is a picture of my “collector room” in the basement.

There's always another gadget, amirite?

I don't really collect anything other than watches. I have about 30 original paintings (mostly from local artists) adorning the walls of our house, but I don't really consider that as a collection.

It is a collection in all but name.

Too right it never ends.

I struggle with the difference between having a collection of some item, versus simply having multiples of an item. Some people define it by numbers, such as the comment from @StevieC54 , but I think there's more to it than that. After all, I'm sure that most of us have several chairs in our homes, yet very few would consider themselves to be chair collectors :-). I view my paintings in a similar vein. In my mind, for something to be considered a collection, there needs to be some "intent to collect" involved. I consider myself a watch collector, but I don't consider myself an art collector. I guess it all boils down to semantics.

·

collecting girlfriends

·

Yes, the distinction is semantics.

You might have bought the art simply for the purpose of decorating your home(s). I think if an art gallery looked at your collection, they could probably draw out a theme that you didn't know existed. And that subtle change is the difference between your call an accumulation & their definition of a collection.

Cheers & MTFBWY

About 300 watches...90 in the rotation the rest too be sold off. Maybe a thousand books and a lot of music 🎶🎼

·

I collect shoes I lost count at 300 plus.  This is my garage and yes there's shoes in the boxes to 😳😲 I need help 😂

·

Shoes, but specifically nothing Adidas or Nike.

·

A dozen or so pens, ranging from a Pilot Custom 74, a MB Starwalker, a few Shaeffers, 2 Parker Ballpoints, and a Visconti.  Two of my favourite collection are the Cross Townsend Quartz blue and Century II. I can't believe Cross pens are made in China.  They must've got quite strict QC to be able to give that level of quality.
