I’ve found my grail watch

While walking around the streets of York today I seen this in the window of the Patek Philippe dealer. I stopped and stared at it for a while through the window one of the sales guys came out asked me if I wanted to try it on?

I told him I could never afford it and don’t want to waste your time but he said don’t worry about it. I think he could tell I was a bit of a watch geek the way I talked about the micro rotor movement that it uses. Instead of the normal person with lots of money just wanting to get it to flash.

Maybe I’m reading into it a bit much there anyway. I when in and he let me try it on it felt great and. I have to say the customer service was great even though they knew they weren’t going to make a sale they gave me a catalog which is cool.

One day

It's a beautiful watch!

That’s exactly how service for a luxury watch should be. You may not be a customer today but maybe one day in the future. Lots of these dealers are watch geeks like us and genuinely enjoy chatting with guys like us vs someone who’s just buying it because of the clout.

P.S. vintage Ellipse aren’t too crazy priced

Hello. I've never had a bad experience with watch shops. From small independents to big well known shops.

I get the same level of service if I'm trying on a £200 watch to a £500000(mb&f) watch(the mb&f is 500 times more than my most expensive watch).

If all customer service was as good as watch shopping. I would have a lot less money.

To be honest it’s been exactly the same way for me and that’s why I have no money 🤣🤣

I’ve walked past berrys a few times I wanted to go in to check out a Blancpain in the window but they was no point as like yourself I don’t have enough to buy it and would feel bad just going on trying stuff and and then just walking out. It’s nice to hear the sales person was friendly enough invite you in, not like the guys in the Rolex AD that made me feel invisible

There is a universal Geneva version that was shown off by urban gentry. Unless you're insistent on pp, that one is much more affordable.

·

I've always had great customer service from the high end brands whether I'm window shopping or buying (99% of the time window shopping, obviously!) PP & VC on New Bond Street are particularly welcoming when they're not overly busy.

There's one brand that didn't rise to the occasion, it's not difficult to deduce which, but fortunately they're not one I need to deal with.

Yeah that’s the first one as well the guy who made it then went to Patek Philippe and then made the patek ellipse

Fabulous watch and exceptional customer service. That kind of engagement lends itself to the "long game".

·

That is how a dealer experience should be.

·

Ya love to see it, sounds like a great time.

·

Excellent choice. If you had to pick a grail, it was a great one to pick.

I received very similar, extremely welcoming and friendly treatment when I visited Patek at Ch'ienMen 23 in Beijing, a few years ago. I was made to feel instantly comfortable.

Loved hearing about your visit.
