Sinn U50. My favorite watch and with the Tegimented Submarine steel construction, it will last forever. With a Sellita SW-300 movement, it's pretty serviceable too.
My philosophy is still a work in progress. I am still trying to discover what piques my interest. For now, I fancy sports watches. Most of the watches in my collection are divers, and my first multi-thousand-dollar purchase will also be one.
Generally, I like my collection to cover the following parameters -
Materials (stainless steel (have), submarine steel (will acquire one soon), Bronze (in future), Titanium (in future), Ceramic (in future))
Countries of origin (Japan (have), Switzerland (have), Russian (have), Germany (will acquire one soon), the USA (in future), France (in future), Australia (in future))
Movements (Automatic (have), Quartz (have), Solar-based (have), Spring Drive (in future))
Number - Will not exceed ten at any point
Types (Diver (have), Everyday/GADA (have), Dress(in future), Chronograph (have), Fleiger (in future), GMT (in future))
A combination of Classic brands, off-beat brands, and microbrands
I'd appreciate feedback on my current philosophy and the one you see me heading toward.
Cheers
My list reads the following:
+1 - Casio G-SHOCK GBD-200UU-1ER ($180)
Total - $10,910 (About $1000 over budget)
I agree with two of Max's picks; for others, I am evidently a Sinn fanboy.
