Torn between the 2

I am in the market for a new watch and these 2 really speak to me.

They both offer the look in really enjoy in different ways but I can't seem to pull the trigger on one without feeling a pang of longing for the other.

Which would you be going for?

Longines, but I'm somewhat biased!

·

The Oris Pointer Date is one of my favorites and really captures both worlds of vintage and contemporary well!

·

I would go for the Oris, even though I'm not fond of Pointer Dates; the green dial is nicer & I like the hands better. Also because most people can't pronounce Longines.

·

The Oris looks dressier, but the Longines looks more badass. It depends on your taste.

·

I’d go for the Oris Pointer Date in this instance. Can’t take my eyes off that dial and case. Both beautiful watches.

·

Tough choice! I would probably choose the Longines. Teddy does a good review on this watch and it looks awesome. I also like the quick release on the bracelet for quick strap changes.

·

very much like both but I'd also go Pointer Date...my wife has one and it's on my list for sure

·

I would go with the Oris. I had a Longines spirit and I was not impressed with the movement which was noisy and the cheap clasp.

·

I just got a Zulu Time, and have a vintage heirloom piece as well, so I have much love for Longines. That said, in this case, and without ever having handled an Oris, I’d prefer the Pointer Date by a huge margin. The whole thing is really “of a piece.” Looks cohesive and beautiful. It says something that I don’t love the handset or the pointer date by themselves, but love how they come together in this really pretty watch. I’ll also admit being a sucker for that bezel.

Oh really, I hadn't heard that complaint on the movement before. They are seem to rave about it being COSC at such a good price.

Couldn’t choose, except maybe on size. Is that the 37mm Spirit?

Nice choice on the Zulu time, the green and black one is a stunner.

Yea i have watched that one a few times, I really like the look of it on the nato strap it can come with. if I went with the Longines I would need to pick that up as well!

·

Either...

Chances are you'll end up with both eventually anyway. They're both good choices, both beautiful and classy.

Whichever you choose first is the right choice 😉👍🏻

Its a 40mm in titanium, the 37m is in stainless steel with a date complication

·

Both are beautiful watches I have drooled over myself, but if I had to choose I think I would go for the Oris. Date function is very useful, and the vintage feel is appealing.

·

Tough choice! Both are nice, but pretty different watches. I suspect regardless of which you buy, the pang for the other is not going away any time soon. I don't have any experience with the Longines, but owned the blue Pointer Date for quite some time. It was my first 'expensive' watch purchase. It really is an awesome piece, and probably the most high-quality feeling watch I've ever owned (including others that cost way more). It's kind of hard to describe, but just something about the way the whole package comes together feels really great. I would say that if you're going this route, definitely get the bracelet - it's awesome and very comfortable.

On the bracelet, I would also say the Pointer Date is sportier than you might expect. This doesn't come across in pictures, but was something I always felt when wearing it.

And... that number '4' is the greatest.

But... that Spirit sure is nice, haha.

·

Two great choices so you can't go far wrong either way. Right now I'd go Longines since, at least where I am, it sure as sh*t ain't leather watch strap time and the Oris with the slate blue dial looks <chefs kiss> with that strap colour.

·

The Longines is my pick. Especially if it’s the titanium. I like the pointer date complication a lot but not enough to win this one.

·

I prefer the Longines

·

Oris, this time...because the Dial beautiful

·

Longines. I had an Oris and it didn’t keep great time.

·

Flip a coin, and see if you like the outcome. That should bring you closer to the right choice.

For what it's worth, I would choose the Oris (though I would get it on a bracelet). But that choice is based on which of these two pieces would complement my collection, not yours.

Therefore; flip a coin.

·

Tough choice

·

Can’t go wrong with either. 🔥🔥🔥 I love the Roberto Clemente version of that Oris.

Yes it is a cosc movement but the rotor was very loud on mine and the clasp was noisy as well. I sold it because for the price I felt that was unacceptable

·

I think a lot of the Longines votes might have reconsidered if the Oris was on the bracelet. I think you should repost this and test my theory 😜

Totally different experience for me with the Zulu time.

·

Something to consider:

Get the Oris now and buy the 39mm Longines Spirit Zulu Time when it comes out later this year. There would be enough difference between the two to live in your collection together.

·

I love the Pointer Date family, but the Spirit watch is one of the most Versatile I can think of!
