More Brand Name Ideas!

Thank you to everyone who has been continually participating in these surveys! The feedback has been invaluable. After considering all your ideas, I wanted to run another poll on some new names. These surveys have been so helpful for many reasons, one of which is you guys finding associations with words that I have not discovered that cause them to be unusable due to IP concerns. Some of these name ideas have meanings, but I would rather just get the general impression of how each of these names sound to you all with no knowledge of the meaning first. (I have products already in development with my manufacturers and would love to get feedback from a small group of customers interested in this brand. If you would like to join a small feedback-based group, please DM or say so in the comments!) Thanks again for your help, everyone 😀

From a UK perspective, caravan isn’t great. I believe you’d call them travel-trailers in the US. Here a caravan is what you buy when you’re retired and want to tow it around the country before your time is up!

Stereo could fit very well... If it fits with the watches you're developing. To me Stereo gives vintage vibes, like cream dials, patina, smaller dimensions etc.

·

In the US, Caravan was a mini-van, coolness factor depends on you.

·

Always rockin’

·

For Caravan I think of desert travelers, nomads, a bit romantic, Lawrence of Arabia. Isn't it derived from exactly that in a middle eastern language? Persian? Egyptian? Turkish?

·

I chose Stereo, but ultimately I liked "Strada" from one of your other surveys the best. But I'm also a car guy, so I'm biased.

I'd love to buy and try out some of your products as well.

Personally, didn’t love any of these options. Of the three, just based on name I went with Tamber. With that being said, in my opinion the name should match the type of Watch your brand aspires to be. A more sporty watch oriented brand should have a name with a coolness factor to it, whereas a dress watch oriented brand should have a name with more elegance/class. Now this rule doesn’t need to be always followed as many brands have modules that are sporty and dressy, but I think a brand needs to figure out the essence of the types of watches they want to make and what makes them as a brand special or different than what’s on the market to help develop a name that works.

For your brand, I would love to hear the meaning for each of these names as it would probably change my opinion. Also seeing the types of watches you are associating with these names my also change my opionion. Sure, some names have the “it” factor that just works, but for me personally when scoping out different brands out there, what gets me is either a good story from the makers (with a name to tie in) or a name and brand that show that they know their strength and what they are as a brand.

Idk, maybe I’m just weird like 😂

Caravan sounds fun & cool to me

Cause I associate it to nomadic merchants with fun stories

That's just me though

·

I see 'tamber' is the plural of 'timbre' so along with Stereo these are feeling like brand names for audio equipment, not watches. Caravan doesn't have any positive implications for me for the reasons others have given above. Phew. Naming stuff is hard...

·

None of them strike me as very meaningful on a watch dial.

That said, I'm also a hard marker. I think half the names on watches that are out there - and being happily bought by people - are pure terrible. Especially when it's a guy's firstname/lastname.

Go with the name of a small Italian city...has the exotic European flair to it...

Mantua

Sorrento

Positano

Dozza

Ravenna

Or small French cities...

Biarritz

Dijon

Cassis

...

·

Stereo, nuff said. 😎🏁

·

From the three choices I would never choose Caravan. Tamber sounds more mysterious

Dijon makes me think of mustard and Cassis of the liquor 😅

I think you need to post either some of your inspiration for your new line or a prototype, design or development piece to give an idea of the brand, otherwise it's just random words that may or may not fit the ethos or style.

·

Is there a brand called ‘Watch!’ Or ‘Time!’ ? I would include the exclamation mark

·

Some of the names I would think about (just my personal preference of course)

Denbora = Time in Basque

ΩRA (ΩΡΑ in real Greek alphabet) = Time in Greek

Uair = Time in Scottish Gaelic

Zäit = Time in Luxembourgish

And a couple of other words not associated with time:

  • virile

  • inured

  • flinty

  • caliber

  • cogent

·

Any good name suggestions?

All I can think of are

• Street Watch

• Jam (it means watch in melayu language)

·

From an American perspective, Dodge Caravan, Tamber close to Louis Vuitton Tambour watch, Stereo sound systems.

·
Kailec

Or something that sounds Italian enough, like... Filippo Loretti. Oh wait.. 👀

You got the joke...😉

·

What's a "Tamber"?

·

I'd go with:

Excelsior

adjectiveLatin.

  1. ever upward: motto of New York State.

·

Not at the moment, I think we have come to a decision!

·
Cantaloop

Good point! Caravan is a strong name, but maybe to many other associations with it

Well, Caravan sounds great for our Middle-Asian countries. We live close to the famous Silk Road and even today there are camels and horses roaming around in our deserts.

interesting to know - thanks for the input

Thanks for the feedback! I agree, I liked Strada. unfortunately, one of our friends in the community found out that Strada was the name of a random cheap line of watches... It might've been obscure enough that I still could have used the name, but I did not want to mess with it.

Great inspirations 😎
