I’m 42 today!
As ever there was plenty of watch action!
Mum gave me her dads old watch - inscribed from his employers on the back. A nice Smiths Astral.
My finance got me some awesome socks from watchrats!
While we were out I bought a watch “mystery box” at an antiques fair. The vendor couldn’t open it - but it was only a fiver!

Great watch.
So I managed to open the mystery box.
Seems like someone had a Bentima Star - probably it was gold cased and they melted that down - then kept the rest.
Quite an interesting rally style strap I might be able to revive. Then there is the movement with some nice details, the dial and crystal. Not worth a kings ransom but what does £5 buy you!
I also found this JLC necklace for £15. I can’t find any reference to it anywhere. Not sure if it was a giveaway item or what..

Happy birthday hope you have had a great day! Where did you go antique watch shopping if you don't mind me asking? Two interesting finds like that, I need to get to more antique shops! Before our daughter came along we often went to any antique fairs we saw advertised in the NW just yo enjoy looking around never buying anything... now it's all swimming lessons and dance classes

Nice watch and a great story. I bought one of these out of nostalgia for the instruments in some of the British cars and motorcycles I’ve owned and the last of the old English watchmakers. These are scarce here in the States.
