So I guess I’m a Breguet guy now..
As detailed elsewhere on Watchcrunch - I’ve been getting in to hot horology. But if there is one bad thing about that genre - it’s the sizing. Typically 42 or 43 - too much for my tiny wrist.
I have had a vague awareness of the Breguet Tradition range for a while - but only recently seriously looked in to it. And realised it combines extreme quality - with some reference sizes that are more wearable.
The ref I have gone for is the 7037 - it’s got an automatic rotor and retrograde seconds. All in a 38mm case. The same ref as Mr @zachweiss has in his collection.
Now I’m more in to the brand I begin to feel like Breguet might be like a secret Patek - that instead of costing 3* more when it leaves the boutique - costs 3* less! For example the world timer can be had for around £10k and to me is every bit as nice as it’s Patek opposite number..
Anyway - what do you think? And any Breguet fans?
A cool thing about these Tradition watches is they are heavily influenced by the old Breguet subscription pocket watches. The whole lower half of the dial side very similar to the back of the pocket watches!

When I first started seriously in the hobby, it was Patek, AP and Brequet or Patek, Brequet and AP could not really exist on the difference between 2nd and 3rd. Whether you believe it is a strength or a weakness, Brequet even 40 years ago was viewed as old school, they have remained constant. There has never been a question about the worth of the brand.

Never understood why the brand is so underrated. Breguet is definitely one of my favorites, next purchase is the 5827 or 7147 with the enamel dial.
Omg I just found a vid of Justin Hast (author of the watch annual) wearing this actual watch 2 weeks ago - you can tell from the unique ref on the dial.
He wears it better than me!

Looks like the person who sold it to me got it for about £8.6k with fees. Good on them! They snagged a bargain and just a small profit.

At ~ 20k Canadian, used, I don’t see ever getting one, it’s about 2x my maximum watch budget. Maybe different if I earned money in USD and paid taxes at US rates! 🤑💰💵💪
