Cant argue there - i have one solar... a pathfinder which I wore for about a week before going back to my mechanical.
What you call maintenance I call forming a bond. if its not automatic then every day or so you gotta stare at it for a while and admire it while you wind it up.
The thing about the explorer for me at least was the intimidation of wearing it in the first place. A very expensive watch and whats more everyone around you knows it because of the brand. if you live in a diverse neighbourhood and who doesn't nowadays then there is that paranoia factor as well.
Add to that the fear of the first ding which will forever strip away its "mint" status and you just might find yourself buying the thing then hiding it at home for the first while.
After that though life is good. Of the 20+ watches I own the explorer right now is my favorite
put the watch in a box for 2 months and tell your wife it will cost 100 dollars. then buy yourself a steak and a beer at the local pub to properly mourn your loss
I too regret that I have only one arm to give for a watch at any given time.
Once in a while you will see someone with a smart watch on one wrist and a normal watch on the other and it looks cheezy.
so unless you are trying to start a new trend in rap music fashion id advise against it
