My first ever Chronograph - Hanhart 417 ES

As the title suggests, I just got my first ever chrono and couldn't be happier. It's the 42mm version of the Hanhart 417 ES and I was really worried I might not be able to pull it off with my puny 16,5cm wrist but I think it looks awesome. I love the no-nonsense tool watch aesthetics. The Arabic numerals are super legible, the red mark on the bezel is a nice touch of color and the curved, large minutes and seconds hands look very delicate. Winding it and fiddling with the pushers - this thing just oozes competence - Christmas came early this year 😅

On watchtime I've tryed a special Edition with golden bezel and hands. It looked marvelous.

·

Ufff very nice Watch, and a brand with a long history

·

Nice!! Congrats!!

·

Looks fantastic! This brand seems to make handsome, legible designs, for sure.

·

This is on my grail list, along with the omega Railmaster. Congrats man, that is a stunning German no nonsense chrono.

·

Congratulations!! I've been eyeing this model with the white subdials. Looks great!

As I grow in my knowledge and appreciation for watches. I have a fondness for the 2 sundial chronograph. The balance of dial is honestly captivating, for me.

Congratulations on your purchase of such a beautiful time piece.

·

Congratulations. I love mine.

·

Very nice. Hanhart is a frequently overlooked brand.

·

As you may know my first nice watch was, lucky for me, my 6139-7012 automatic chronograph. Which I wore as recently as yesterday. I was inspired to get it when my friend came from japan with a gorgeous JDM 5 Speedtimer.

To me, I always want a chronograph, and only get other tool watches. Such as divers, world timers, or field watches other wise.

I guess i am a tool

·

Beautiful piece! Congrats!

Great choice. A really cool, super-underrated independent watchmaker; still making a lot of its parts in-house. And when you see people wank on about 'Type 20' chronographs from back in the 1950s, just smile in the knowledge that Hanhart's chrono was what the Type 20 watches ripped off in the first place. It's a super cool, super important brand, that makes super accurate time pieces that are gorgeous. Yes, I like Hanhart. Wear it in good health!

·

Love the font on the dial, the milling of the case, the style of the pushers. You got a great looking watch.

·

Great looking watch! Total classic

·

I recently got the 39mm version. Lovely watch which is so comfortable on the bund.

What a chrono! Excellent choice.

·

I had this watch on my wish list for the longest time, the 39mm version just was never available when I was ready to buy it.

After time the Heuer Carrera 60th Anniversary model stole its thunder and I got that instead.

But still admire this piece.

Cracker of a watch.

Did it really steal its thunder, though? The Hanhart is a pilot watch, and the Heuer is more motorsport. Aside from being chronos, I see them as wildly different things.

It did for me , I’m more of a Dive watch guy, I’m the past I only had the one chronograph which I sold , so I felt like I needed one again for my collection, I knew I wanted a classic vintage old school look chrono, with a leather strap. In the end it was a factor of variation more, the silver sunburst dial , display case back and I think most importantly have the hour(s) subdial which is more useful then only have a 30min one.

OK cool, for you, it stole its thunder. But in broader terms, they are very different watches.

Congrats! Looks fantastic on ya. Word of warning, it's going to get really tough to pick another watch to wear. 😁
