I'm done with watches
Started a sometime in April and I got lucky when I saw my grail pop up for <$4.5k on eBay. It showed pre-owned but I still took that leap of faith since it's way cheaper than the usual second hand listing of it that I see on Chrono24 or other watch sites.
Even better when despite being advertised as such, it was totally brand new. The warranty card wasn't even signed, I can even use it to join the Grand Seiko 9 club.
What gets me even further is that I know about the Spring Drive hover, but what I never saw before until I got this was the otherworldly effect that Zaratsu polish does at a distance, the color of the case morphs depending on the distance and angle you notice it at. Now I can see why people say it's noticeable even 10m away because of the Zaratsu polish, it is a very visible glint at that distance. I was notified that it's not exclusive to GS and that Citizen also does this but unfortunately they don't show Citizen watches with such polishing in malls so I never really had a frame of reference for it.
So yea, I'm done, with this acquisition, I am absolutely sated. This is everything I've ever wanted in an automatic watch, and much, much more.
I don't mind the three choices I had to choose but G-Shock really needs to have its own category...

The two things I really look for in an automatic is quartz accuracy and the GMT function which this already delivers, while looking absolutely mesmerizing at the same time.
If the itch does come back though, hopefully I'm on a pay grade that would be able to get me more by then.

But yes, I can spot the glint of zaratsu from across a crowded subway car. I joked that I could spend the rest of my watch collecting time buying just GS and my wife straight up said NO.

Being a recent Grand Seiko 9 club member myself, I know the feeling.
It would be fantastic if this stunning timepiece could be your final one, being at last cured from the watch disease and live an happy life from now on without your financial situation being jeopardized on a monthly basis

It's thankfully now Rolex so I should be able to get one some day without it gutting my wallet.
I don’t have the pleasure of owning a Grand Seiko yet. But when I get my polished masterpiece hope I don’t loose my fever. I’m still down with my sickness!

True as that is, I'm a stickler for accuracy and the alternative would be downgrading to a quartz watch or a smartwatch. This Grand Seiko covers the very things I'm looking for since I'm just not a fan of the time variance inherent to automatics, especially for watches below the <$1000 range.
That said, I would like a Moonphase so if I'm ever going to get one in the future it's going to be either CW's C1 Moonglow or Longine Master Collection Moon Phase, but besides that I'm sated at the moment and it's better for my wallet that way.
