Alignment obsession!?

Is it only us watch nerds that check out how the crown aligns when it's fully screwed in?

My work colleagues and non watch loving friends think I'm nuts!! 🤣

It is mate. The unnecessary, necessities! 😉

·

I like it when it lines up but I think only one of my watches does.

·

TOP TIP: Make your life easier and strive for excellence rather than perfection. No one can argue with excellence. 😉

·

Never understood why YouTube reviewers go nuts when a pricey piece has an unsigned crown, it's not a feature I cherish. Along with date complications my old eyes struggle to make 'em out. 🤣👴🏼

·

I can't say I worry about this any more than I worry if my center caps are all lined up every time I park. I just checked my watch and it's not lined up, but it's pretty close!

My Breitling SuperOcean that I’m wearing today passed.

Honestly, given how much some of these cost, I don’t think it’s too much to ask to get the little details like this correct.

·

Yeah, I've seen those. Watch companies could do that with crowns too.

·

I never even looked.

Great! Now I got that to worry about! :)

I never noticed. Now I can't un-notice🫠

Yeah, it's pretty common. I was talking to my watchmaker one day about how anal people get about it when he's servicing their watches. He thinks it's utterly bizarre. I have to agree with him.

I can't even recall the last time I even looked at the crown of any of my watches, side-on, let alone pondered if I liked which way the logo pointed. But horses for courses, I guess, in watchland.

Maybe your friends are right ...😂

My Oris also fails 😥

This was the piece I brought to remember my dad when he passed, so it's special!

My dad wasn't perfect (like me 🤣), so it kind of fits.

It’s 4:20 so that’s a check. ✔

Meh... None of my watch crowns line up, and I'm okay with it. Sure. I'm okay with it. I'M OKAY WITH IT!

No!!!! 😮

I guess hublot will not be in your future...

No, it's not a brand I've lusted after. I do appreciate the watchmaking, but I've never liked them much!

Please elaborate on the crown alignment 🤔

Your post has made me check all my watches.

All my timepieces have failed except those I hand wind.

😠

Crap, me too. After checking all my screw down crown watches, none line up including the crown on my Rolex DJ (though my Tudor crown is the round rose so maybe it's always aligned) 😜

Thank God my non-screw down grail Speedy is excused from this test being the manual wind watch that it is or I might really be depressed.

My FXD is pretty “perfect”

But i dont consider the above perfect, i like the crown to face east, so when i look down or from an angle, the dial logo aligns with the crown logo, ala;

When you’re spending what could easily be thousands of dollars on a little piece of perfection, it better be just that, PERFECT. I hadn’t checked that before but you know I will from now on. Thanks, that’s an honest a sarcastic thanks.

·

I’ve had some picky customers over the years, but not one looked at the crown alignment. It’s not something I care about either.

Honestly I prefer unsigned crowns. 🤷🏻‍♂️

·

That does it! I'm filling all of the logos off of all of my crowns. Problem solved. Whew, one less thing to obsess over... 😎

I suppose some of us are odder than others 🤣🤓

No watches are. So actually it isn't bothering me one little bit😊

·

No, we're not the only ones. Gunsmiths and woodworkers are just as picky. You should see the trouble gunsmiths have to go through to index screws on rifles and handguns. Sometimes they actually set up the lathe and make custom screws one at a time. Of course, these are also $5000 and up firearms, not the $400 Glocks we can buy at the local gun store.

I never even thought about it when I took the picture. Rolex thinking they're dominant still I suppose 🤣🤔

As a owner of both, there's a definite argument to be had there.

Areas where the Crown exceeds and areas where the GS exceeds too! Both great pieces 👌💪

OMG. OCD is spreading😂
